Alec turned around from his position on the chair, hand still hovering over the mouse on the computer desk. “Then what do you suggest?” He asked, raising a brow and leaning further into the chair.

“Well there’s a reason we keep Peyton around here, and it’s not for her cooking.” Octavia glanced at him with a raised brow. It’s not that she didn’t trust him around computers, okay, it was definitely that she didn’t trust him around them. “I’m just saying, the last thing we need is to either get locked out and they realise we’ve tried to access their system or for the damn thing to go boom and choking on smoke.”

“Are you sure you want to do that? Because if I remember correctly, this did not go well for you last time and I can guarantee that it isn’t going to go well for you this time either.”

As he loosened his grip and prepared to move off the woman, she caught him off-guard, flipping him back over so that she was now straddling him. It wasn’t exactly something he was expecting and a light laugh left his lips. Alec met her gaze. “You’re a little stronger than you look.” He said in reply, his eyes darting down to her lips for a moment, taking a breath before meeting her gaze again. “But I still have my secret weapon.” A smirk grew on his lips and moments after, the bubbles streamed in front of their faces again. 

“You seem surprised.” A teasing glint filled her eyes as she smirked down at him. She watched as his eyes flickered down, Octavia froze realising the position they were both now in, causing a red tinge to colour her cheeks as she cleared her throat and attempted to move off him. “You need to work on your reflexes, they’re getting sloppy.” Her lips pulled up in a small smile as she tried to ease some of the tension from her bones.

Reacting just a little too late, the piece of paper hit him right on the forehead and he sighed. Though, part of him was always amused when Tavia got like this – even though this situation was a serious issue. “Well I definitely didn’t expect Elsie to be involved. Period. So I agree. Peyton is another issue, but you’re right – I should have been more cautious.” Seeing the smirk that began to form on her features, Alec couldn’t help himself. He swept her feet with his own leg and caught her to pin her beneath him. “I think I’ve got a few more in me.” He said, smirking down at her before loosening his grip and moving to get off of her. 

Octavia was about to reply with yet another sarcastic retort, however, a gasp escaped her lips as her legs went from underneath her and gravity worked against her. Before she had chance to hit the floor, Tav felt him catch her and break her fall, her arms automatically wrapping around his neck causing her breath to catch in her throat as she looked up at him. A thousand thoughts ran through her head, the majority to quick for her to make much sense out of. Instead she found herself holding back laughter as she smirked up at him. “You didn’t actually think I’d let you win right?” Her words came out in almost a whisper as she discretely moved her own leg to hook over his and adjusted her body weight. A moment later, she quickly moved to flip them over so she was instead straddling him.

Sasha frowned slightly, somewhat annoyed with the female. “Come on Octavia, I might be able to help somehow if you just gave me the chance.”

“I’m sure you could but we’ve honestly got it covered here. Maybe next time?” There obviously wouldn’t be a next time but Octavia tried to look sympathetic as if she genuinely felt bad. “Your skills could be put to use in some other situation. Why don’t you go and ask Elsie if there’s anything she needs help with?”

“Incredible luck.” Alec said, though honestly he imagined it was more than luck and a credit to Peyton’s abilities. His sister, though, he still wasn’t quite sure how to feel about that one. Obviously, he didn’t want her involved in any of this given what had already happened to their brother. “But I don’t want them in the field again.” He said simply, though it was probable that he needn’t have said it aloud. Alec leaned back in his chair and sighed. “I think we should definitely be cautious now that they’ve got braver.” He said – they couldn’t afford to worry. But they could afford to put more precautions in place. “I don’t know what their goal was – whether it was death, since the school and pool were a bit extreme, or maybe they were looking to see how some of us could get out of those situations.” It wasn’t a leap to assume that they wanted to scope out the abilities of certain individuals. “You just can’t get enough of me, can you?” Alec joked in response to her comment. However, he soon paid for it when he felt himself quickly plummeting to the ground with a painful thud. With a groan, he leaned back until his back was against the floor as well and he was looking up Tavia. “Now that was childish. But I guess I deserved it…” He said, lifting an arm and a plastic gun forming in his hand. When his finger pulled the trigger, a countless stream of bubbles floated upwards toward her. 

“No, really? i’m so glad you said that for us, it would never have even crossed my mind.” Tavia grabbed a scrap of paper off the desk, scrunched it up and threw it off his head to show her frustration. “There shouldn’t have been a first instance, never mind a need to add an again.” Instead of replying to his teasing and risking the chance of increasing his ego, Octavia instead moved to stand over his prone body and look down at him with a look that was a cross between a smugness and a a playful smirk. “Would you like to continue with your smart ass remarks Alec?” She couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped her lips when she watched the bubbles.

“So, what exactly was the purpose of all of this? Do we know what they were after yet or who was behind it?” 

“It’s nothing you need to worry about, we’ve got this handled.” Tavia gave a fake reassuring smile as she moved to stand in front of the screen.

“When we stopped them – well, so-to-speak.” He was aware that it was mostly Peyton’s doing and that she’d had help, some of which from his sister. “That could make us a bigger target, but it also means we have more to take to them.” Alec mused, partially out loud for his own sake, and partially for Tavia. “Peyton had it covered, from the looks of things… But we’re definitely going to need more precautions for the future.” He nodded in agreement. He wasn’t about to argue with her, especially when he agreed. Though he was sure that Tavia had some more choice words for him. “It should never have gone as bad as it did.”

“Yeah, I’m still curious as to how they managed that. Especially considering Peyton has never been in the field and your sister has never been involved with us at all.” Her brows furrowed in thought wondering if they had help from outsiders and just not said anything. “Should we be worried that they’ve suddenly got a lot braver? They’ve not gone to this extreme before Alec. You could have all been killed.” Octavia was doing all she could to control her emotions and her temper to refrain what she really wanted to say. “Oh really, you think?” Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she glared at him. “We work better as a team. We always have.” It was at that point that her frustration got the better of her. While he was staring at the computer, Tavia’s hand twisted slightly as she created one of her portals right beneath where his stool was placed. She stood smirking with a raised brow as she watched it disappear before closing it quickly.

Alec looked over the screen – they were far from looking over every bit of information Peyton had managed to extract. However, what they were seeing was important. “It means this probably isn’t the last we have seen of disasters like this.” Alec said simply. Though, of course, it meant a lot more than that. “It wasn’t supposed to be a high stakes situation.” He said, moving away from the computer and falling into a chair on the other side of the room. 

“Peyton said they were pretty determined to get a hold of this and that they were pissed when they failed?” Tavia didn’t know whether she was feeling dread or excitement, perhaps a little bit of both, at the thought of something else happening that she could actually be apart of this time round. One thing she did know, is that she wasn’t about to let their group risk being separated again and take the chance of losing a member of the team. “I don’t care what it was suppose to be. It should never have happened in the first place. You were foolish to attempt such a thing and you’re lucky it didn’t end worse than it did.”

“What exactly are we seeing here?” Tavia questioned as she stepped closer to the screen, looking over the information that Peyton had managed to secure. “What does this mean for us, the town?” Even though her curiosity was peaked didn’t mean her annoyance had lessened at all. “And don’t think I’ve forgotten about your stupidity and recklessness.”

Alec: It wasn't supposed to be a mission.

Alec: It was supposed to be a trip to the mayor's office.

Alec: She'll be fine.

Alec: Elsie offered to help her, because she can't hack anything atm.... and i don't know much more than that. but the people there are also looking for info. and i know they definitely shouldn't have it.

Alec: but extraction is priority.

Alec: the info comes second.

Alec: I did try telling her this...

Octavia: Then what was it supposed to be?

Octavia: Why would she need to go to the Mayor's office, there had been no need for her to be there Alec.

Octavia: If she'll be fine, why are you so bloody adamant that I be there?

Octavia: It sounds like they have more of a plan then you do. Maybe you should have a little more faith in them, after all you trusted Peyton enough to go in the first place!

Alec: God knows why Elsie is there.

Alec: But PEyton is looking for information.

Alec: And it looks like so are the people there...

Alec: There is a situation there as well, Tav.

Alec: All sounds suspect.

Alec: But you're going to need to go there first and get them out.

Alec: I've got this under control.

Octavia: WAIT WHAT?!

Octavia: YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW ALEC?

Octavia: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING SENDING HER ON A MISSION?! HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST YOUR DAMN MIND!

Octavia: I AM GOING TO KILL YOU BOTH. WITH YOUR OWN DAMN CREATIONS. PAINFULLY.

Octavia: What has she said?

Alec: And so are Elsie and Peyton. In the Mayor's office. So they're priority.

Alec: With or without the info.

Octavia: Why are they at the Mayor's office? I fail to see why they would need to be a priority Alec. Again you are the one that is currently a hostage!

Alec: I'll do my best to antagonise them for you. 😘

Alec: Change of plan, anyway. I need you in the Mayor's office.

Alec: Please??

Octavia: I'm not talking to you anymore. Good luck not dying.

Octavia: Arsehole.

Octavia: What? No, of course not! You're a hostage Alec!

Alec: They just secured the hostages more. Couldn't text.

Alec: it's cool though.

Alec: you're cute when you're worried. ;)

Octavia: You know what, forget it. They can kill you. It was nice knowing you Alec.

Alec: Hi.

Octavia: Hi? Hi? That's all you've got to say? Are you serious? Jeez, Alec! You scared the crap out of me!
