History of Photography Timeline
Tumblr media
The invention of coloured film is probably something that's definitely impacted me greatly in my life. The use of colour in photography is something that's very important to me. I think lots of things were made possible with the invention of coloured film and it helped us gain new perspectives and brought images to life. Colour film is also just a lot cheaper and easier to find in general.
The creation of strobe photography is something that I found really cool. Images look a lot more alive and just cool in general and so I can say for sure that it's one thing that impresses me the most.
I won't sit here and lie about random inventions that I find from a simple google search. I'm going to be honest when I say I barely know any effects or inventions outside what I read on the slides. But, I will say an invention that is important to me is the creation of cameras in general. The camera has evolved and improved greatly over time to the point we even have them in our phones. It wasn't that long ago where they had those giant boxes you had to set up and do a bunch of other stuff to get these photos. I am grateful that the camera exists because without it we would have lots of memories lost in time. Memories we create can be captured in one simple image and we don't have to rely on our own minds to remember the little details when we have photos to capture that. Digital photos is also something that I find awesome. Over time, stuff fades and you lose a lot of what it used to be. But with digital images, it stays basically the same. It might lose quality but it can always be enhanced and put back to it's old glory. Photography and its link to memories is something very dear to me. With photos from the past I can relive happy memories.

Why is photography important?
Photography is important because it’s used as a universal way to communicate and capture moments in time you might forget about in the future. With photography, we’ve learned so much about our past and who we are. Without photography, we would be missing out on a lot of key moments in our history. Photography can give us context and more insight into the past. Because of photography, we learn new things everyday.
We take pictures everyday. Whether it's with our phones or some fancy camera, the majority of people are taking pictures. We post photos on social media, our stories, or send these pictures to other people. These photos can be used to communicate with others, letting other people know what you’re doing or where you’re at at that time. Even simple photo’s like selfies can give a glimpse into our lives. A lot of information can be given with just one photo.
Photography can also be used as a way to say something without actually saying something. We can share how we feel with just one simple image. Photography is a way we can express ourselves in ways words cannot. It’s a form of art that can make others feel and understand how we felt in that moment. With photography we can understand more about the people around us and even those that aren’t directly in our lives.
We use photography as a way to learn our history. With images from important events, or pictures of old old art created hundreds, even thousands of years ago, we are able to learn about how we’ve advanced as a society. We’re learning about how much has changed from back even when the first camera had been invented. There are lots of things that no longer exist, but we can use photography to show younger generations of things from the past to show how the world used to be.

Questions for Photography
What is Pop-Art and how does it relate to photography?
Pop-Art is a form of art where you collage or make images with bright colours. It's based on pop culture at the time, such as ads, pop artists, trends, etc. Pop-Art is a large part of culture that originated mid-1950s in Britain and became popular in 1960s. It was first created by Richard Hamilton. Pop-Art changed how people viewed art and let artists freely be creative with their work.
Pop-Art relates to photography because artists like Andy Warhol strove to use other medias instead of just a canvas. It takes images from everyday things and forms it into art work. It often also takes portraits and combines them with the traits that create Pop-Art(bright colours, collages, etc). It later became a way to rebel against traditional art.

Vacation in Antarctica
Tumblr media
I'm a winter kind of person and I also really like snow. Those are really my main reasons I would go to Antarctica. I'd probably also go for the penguins. I REALLY like penguins cause of how silly they are. You guys should go to Antarctica too but forever and without me

1. Does My Photo Have Great Composition and Framing?
I think the framing isn't horrible. I could've done better to straighten out the bottom so it wasn't slanted and had a more straight horizontal bottom.
2. Does My Crop Enhance Or Detract From My Image?
The cropping isn't too bad. I think it helps frame the subject(flower pot) a bit better.
3. Is My Exposure Right For My Intent?
I definitely could've done better on exposure. I don't hate it but certain parts of the image aren't exactly what I intended them to look like. It looks okay though I think.
4. Is My Photograph In Focus?
I would say it's in focus to what I want someone looking at this to see first.
5. Have I Thought About The Background Of My Image?
There are definitely elements of the photo that might distract someone looking at it. Like the wrapping paper, it's around the same vibrance as the flowers. I need to make sure I'm checking the background and removing any unwanted objects for future pictures.
6. Is My Image Impactful?
I'm not really sure but people might say something about the flowers just because how bright they are.
7. Processing/Technical Quality – Have I Improved My Image In Post?
I think there are a couple of things that make the image look really over-processed and distorted. The high saturation and vibrance on some things and some distortion in the window. I could've done a better job avoiding that.

HDR
HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. It is the range of dark and light tones in your photos. HDR is able to display richer blacks and and brighter bright colours, which gives us an image closer to real life.
