Sam holds Alex gently, trying his best not to disrupt her from her sleep. “She looks so much like you,” Sam murmurs, tracing his finger softly along their daughter’s bright red hair. Part of him had been secretly hoping she’d be a redhead like her mother, and she is. “You did just have a baby, you’re being too hard on yourself.” He chuckles, shaking his head at his wife softly. “Because you do. But you already know how I feel about you.” Sam looks down to their daughter, not even noticing that she’s taking pictures of them, but he of course doesn’t mind. “I’m totally going to be one of those dads, but no one will be surprised in my case.” He chuckles. It’s obvious, considering he was already a photographer before his daughter came along. “Right? Hey, at least she won’t wonder what she looked like.”
"Oh, I know you will be. That’s why I gotta sneak in some pictures now.” Poppy jokes, a quiet laugh leaving her lips. She’s so happy that their daughter has arrived and that she’s healthy. Holding Alex for the first time was definitely one of the best moments of her life along with Sam proposing and the two of them getting married. She had never thought she’d end up married and with a family, but she was so glad that she had. “True. I know she won’t be this small forever, so at least we’ll have photos to look back on.” Poppy wanted to remember everything, knowing she only got to be a first time mom once. Everything was still so new, and they were still figuring things out. “Do you want to see if your family’s here yet? I can take Alex again.”

“She’ll have no reason not to love us…because we’re going to be amazing parents.” Sam replies, returning her smile. There’s no doubt in his mind that Poppy is going to be a great mother, and with her help he’ll be a great father. He’s not worried about anything as long as they have each other. Sam gives her a look, shaking his head softly. “You already look presentable, babe…but yes, I will take her.” Sam carefully takes Alex, supporting her head as he sits down on the chair right next to Poppy’s bed. He just stares at her for a minute, adjusting the blanket to make sure she’s warm. “Mm…you still have a little bit of work to do.” Sam teases her before nodding. “Yes, babe. You look beautiful. Seriously, you do.”
"I know, I know..” Smiling, Poppy pauses to look at Sam holding Alex, watching them for a few moments before going back to making herself look presentable, pulling her hair back into a quick braid. “I look like I just had a baby. I’m all sweaty.” Making a face, she wipes her face down, putting on a little makeup before setting all of her things aside. “You always think I look beautiful...not that I’m complaining.” She jokes, reaching for her phone, snapping a few photos of Sam and Alex together. “I’m gonna be one of those moms that takes a million photos of everything, I can feel it. Poor Alex won’t have a chance between both of us, she’s going to have so many baby photos.”

Sam has a slight advantage having raised his little brother, but it’s still different when the baby is your own. As much as he loves Evan, holding a child that’s yours with the love of your life is completely different. He can’t wait to raise Alex, to see her grow and change every day. “Yeah, that’s true.” Sam chuckles softly, looking from Poppy to Alex. How much their daughter looks like Poppy is already scaring him, but in a good way. He knew she would be beautiful, any child they had would’ve been. “I want her to love us both equally…I don’t want her to have a favorite.” Sam murmurs softly, pressing his hand against Alex’s cheek. “I hope so, though. I really hope she likes me. I don’t want to be an overprotective dad who pushes the child away…I want to be protective of her but I also want her to trust me to come to me, you know?” He asks, knowing Poppy knows exactly what he means. “Sounds good to me, babe.” Sam nods, knowing they should appreciate the newborn baby they already have in their arms. “Want me to get your makeup bag for you?”
“She will. She’ll love us both just as much as we love her.” Poppy says softly, giving Sam a small smile. “You’re going to be an amazing dad...you already are. You worry to much.” She murmurs, shaking her head. Sam had always been a worrier, and she knew now that Alex was here, he would worry about her and about being a father as well. “We’ll figure things out.” Nodding, she sits up, holding Alex carefully. “Yeah...will you take Alex while I make myself presentable?” She asks, passing their daughter over to him after he returns with her things. “Thank you.” Leaning over, Poppy presses a kiss to Sam’s cheek and Alex’s head before pulling out her compact, doing her best to make herself look a little bit better. “How do I look? Less of a hot mess?”

“I think he’s going to love her…be protective of her, you know? He loves both of us, he’ll love her even more.” Sam teases, resting the side of his head against Poppy’s again. “Then trust me when I say you’re going to be a great mom. She already loves you.” He points out, talking about how calm Alex is in Poppy’s arms. He’s heard that babies aren’t always so calm, but it helps that she’s in her mom’s arms. “Right? I know. She does, yeah.” Sam teases, although it really seems like she does. “I’m so happy that they’ll be so close in age. Mellie is already planning play dates.” He chuckles, getting excited as he thinks about Mellie’s reaction to meeting Alex for the first time. “Definitely, as long as you’re up for it. I’m not the one who has to carry the baby.” He says simply, wanting Poppy to know that he’s comfortable with what she’s comfortable with. “We could wait until she’s one and a half or two…maybe start trying again then?” So they’d be about two and a half or three years apart.”
“I hope so.” Poppy murmurs, letting out a quiet sigh. She didn’t doubt Sam, he had always believed in her, even when she didn’t believe in herself. “I might have a slight advantage....you know, since I grew her inside of me for the last nine months.” She teases, smiling as she glances down at their daughter again. Even though Sam had been extremely involved in her pregnancy, she knew he and Alex were bound to have some sort of bond - after all, she was the one who had felt Alex moving inside of her as she grew. “I’m sure she’ll be daddy’s girl in no time though...she’s already got you wrapped around her little finger and she’s barely an hour old.” Smiling some more, Poppy kisses Sam on the cheek, laughing softy as he starts talking about trying for another. “Mm...how about we revisit the topic in a year or so? Let’s enjoy this one first...we’ll only have our first kid once.”

“Ezra knows we still love him. He’s still our first born.” Sam teases, smiling softly. He got with Poppy not long after buying Ezra, so he was her cat, too. He didn’t remember her not being around. He nods as he listens to his wife speak, placing his hand on her cheek softly. “Don’t worry…do you trust me?” He asks softly, knowing that she does. “You’re going to be a great mom, Poppy. It’s going to come naturally to you, it already is and she was just born. So please don’t worry.” He murmurs, kissing her softly before he looks back to their daughter. It’s such a miracle, how this tiny human was a creation by both of them. “Probably. Mason is doomed, too. Mellie and I play music all of the time when she comes over, her on the guitar and me on the piano. I bet they’ll both be musical by default.” He smiles at the thought. Sam raises his eyebrows, giving Poppy a look. “Kids? As in plural?” He teases her. They’ve always talked about having more than one, but he also knows he doesn’t want Poppy to be pregnant again unless she’s comfortable with it. “I hope so, too, though. And I want them to have each other. I don’t know what I would’ve done without Jackie and Jess.”
“I know, babe. He was very attentive while I was pregnant. Ezra loved taking naps on my stomach.” Poppy says with a smile, laughing softly. “I’m sure he’ll be fine with Alex once we take her home...and besides, it’s not like we won’t keep an eye out. It’ll be fine.” Nodding, she leans against Sam’s hand, giving him a small smile “Of course I do. I trust you more than anyone.” She murmurs before kissing him back, closing her eyes for a few moments after they part. “That sounds nice...if Mason’s anything like Mellie, he’ll be musical. Doesn’t she play like, every instrument?” Poppy asks, laughing quietly. “Yeah, kids. I mean...we want more than one, don’t we? I never liked being an only child. Of course I don’t want another right now, but maybe in a couple of years so there’s not too huge of a gap between kids? I don’t know.”

samlowndes93:
Sam can’t wipe the smile off of his face as he sees how much his wife loves their daughter. Of course she does, but seeing the two of them together makes his life feel complete. Alex is already so calm and reserved, showing her own personality. “I’m just going to take a million pictures of her, every single day.” Sam half-jokes, reaching to get his camera again. It’s only been a few minutes since he took some pictures, but he has to take another one. “I don’t want to miss a minute of it, either.” He murmurs, resting his head against her’s again. It gives him a huge comfort that Poppy is going to be staying home with Alex so they don’t have to worry about a stranger taking care of her. “You’re already a great mom. You love her and you want what’s best for her. You’re a great mom, babe.” Sam promises her, reaching to meet Poppy’s lips softly. “She’ll be stubborn and love Maroon 5.” He jokes, laughing softly. He has to throw that in there. “I wonder what she’ll be like when she’s older, you know?”
“Oh, I know you will.” Poppy replies with a soft laugh, teasing Sam gently. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, babe. I hope Ezra isn’t too upset by us bringing Alex home...I know sometimes pets can get territorial. He was pretty good while I was pregnant though, so I’m not too worried.” She murmurs, giving her husband a smile. “I do love her. And you, but I already said that. I’m trying not to worry too much though...I don’t want me worrying and obsessing over being a good mom get in the way of me actually being a good mom, you know?” She asks, shaking her head at herself. “Oh, definitely. I’m pretty sure she already loves Maroon 5, we played it for her in the womb.” Laughing, she leans over, pressing a kiss to Sam’s cheek. “I don’t know. I hope she’ll be strong and independent, but still close to us. I don’t want Alex or any of our other kids feeling like they can’t talk to us about anything.”

Sam doesn’t hear her talk about her ex much, but that’s fine with him. Knowing what he did to Poppy made Sam feel sick, and if he ever saw the guy, he’d kill him. But he was always there for her if she decided she wanted to talk about it. “I guess so. I was waiting for you and I didn’t even know it.” Sam nods, smiling down at her softly. Things seemed right between them from the moment they first met, it was instant. Except Sam didn’t think he’d ever stand a chance with her at first, and then she was kissing him when they got out of his truck. “And you’re going to be a great mother. You’re independent, but you’re there for other people when they need you. You’re smart and you’re strong.” Sam replies through a small smile, giving her a look. “I hope she’s like you, though. I really do. I think either way, she’s going to be pretty stubborn.” He teases Poppy, giving her a look. “We’re going to be great parents. We work good together, and I think that’s the most important thing. Don’t you?”
“I guess so.” Poppy murmurs, giving Sam a smile. “I love you, babe...more than anything. Except maybe Alex.” She teases, looking down at their daughter. She was amazed at how calm Alex was, how peaceful she looked when she was sleeping. She definitely took after Sam in that sense. “She’s so little...I don’t want to miss a minute of her growing up.” She says softly, leaning her head against her husband’s shoulder. They had talked about her being a stay at home mom, so it wasn’t going to be an issue. “I hope so. I’ve never been very maternal, but...I want to be a good mom, I really do. I’m going to try my best. I have faith in us too, babe. We’re amazing together.” Poppy knew that they were both bound to make mistakes, but she had faith in both of them. “Oh, I’m sure she’s going to be stubborn. She’ll get it from both of us...and a lot of other really good things.”

samlowndes93:
“Okay. As long as you’re comfortable.” Sam nods, resting his forehead against the side of her head. He knows this is going to be the best day of their lives, a day they’ll never forget. Sam always thought that was their wedding day, and that was still up there on the list, but seeing their daughter be born was pretty damn special. “It was a great night.” He smiles, laughing softly. “My life changed that night. For the better.” He says before looking back to Poppy, smiling as their eyes meet. “Hey, I got your handwriting, too.” He reminds her playfully. “I knew we would, too. I can’t explain it, but I just…knew. As soon as we met. I never thought love like that existed, you know? And now we’re here with our daughter.” He says half in disbelief as he looks back and forth between them. Sam smiles as their lips meet, nodding his head softly. “We’re going to be great parents…and something tells me she’ll be a great daughter. Especially if she’s anything like you…which I hope that she is.”
“I’m fine, babe...really.” Poppy says gently, giving Sam a small smile. “It was. Mine too.” She murmurs, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Me either. Especially not after what happened with Theo.” Poppy rarely bought up her ex, but Sam knew the story. “I guess I just needed to move to Charleston and meet you, huh? Funny how things work out when you least expect them to.” True, they had moved quickly in their relationship, but Poppy wouldn’t change a single thing given the chance. Everything happened how it was supposed to, she believed that. “I know you’ll be a great father, Sam...I never doubted that for a second. You’re the most loving, caring man I know.” She murmurs honestly, nodding back at him. “I hope she’s like you too. Kind, loving, willing to do anything for the people she cares about...those are all good things to have too.”
