I never met my grandfather. My mom’s father. The one I imagine e I would have been closest to. So I Don’t have an image or memory or story to share. But, My family has an old faded photo of him that we share that one of my hometown homies rendered into a painting for me. It’s now my favorite piece of black art that I own. And it’s value “unknown”. I don’t know the man in This painting, yet I carry his blood and his legacy and am but a very small part of his wildest dream. and I’ll think abt that every time I look at him.. looking at me.. Been looking for this one picture all day of me and MommaBugg and just kept running into so many memories and thoughts of moments she and I have shared I hadta just make a collage! (I like collages, dangit!) ..but Maaaan...The Connection me and my girl have. And thinking about all of the connections I have because of her that make me who I am...its overwhelming... My cheerleader, confidante, role model, first and longest love, my first forever teacher, therapist, doctor, nurse, arbitrator, chef, enforcer...folks say things give them life...well....I only have one solitary source for that...this angel bestowed upon me to guide me through this earthly existence, my Momz. I am motivated by my love for you to be there for you, to make you proud of me, and to share all that you have given me and made possible for me by giving me life...which gives me more life. You crazy lady. :p You beautiful Black Woman. I get the family thing. I love this family thing. It's all we got. As crazy as it was for you and all of us, I'm glad you made a lot of us and glad your mom, my grandmommabugg, made a lot of you and your brothers and sisters so we can keep our families big and strong!
