Week 12
This week I explore UXD online through the Bath & Body Works app MYB&BW.
Bad: While using the app there is no way to shop on the app. What I first think of when dowloading an app for a retail store is that I will be able to shop on there. This is bad UX because it has not met the users expectations or typical retail apps user design.
Good: You are able to access your rewards, favorites and current promotions. Once clicking on a link you are taken to another page on your phones browser. In this, the Bath & Body Works website has a good design. Specially the fragrance section where you are able to shop by category or item name.

Week 10
This week I explore UXD with some of my makeup items.
The Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder & E.L.F. Halo Glow Setting Powder
The first time using the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder I had a very hard time. I did not understand how to dispense the powder I tried looking for instructions and asked other users how the product is dispensed. Eventually I figure it out on my own.
Bad: No clear instruction on how to use. The internal design makes it hard to obtain product unless it is dispensed properly.
Good: Once you figure out how to dispense the product it is easy and does not make a large mess like other products.
E.L.F. Halo Glow Setting Powder like other powders is easier to dispense because of the traditional design. However it is much messier if you aren't careful.
Good: Easy to open and dispense product. You have a tab that can twist to close off the product being dispensed.
Bad: it can be very messy if you do not close the tab. There is also the lid that gets very messy when all the powder falls over.

Week 11
This week we explore UXD in footwear
The Good: Fur material which keeps your feet cozy and warm. There is an adjustable strap for different footwear fit.
The Bad: The strap adjustment has only two options. I almost always trip or twist my foot when I wear these. I believe it has to do with the material choice and no support on the sides of the sandal. I also feel that they might be 1 inch platform which can be another reason why it hurts when my feet slip off. Comparing the Birkenstock to the UUGs sandal I feel that the Birkenstock are much safer.

Week 8
This week I explore UXD in a physical form by observing the user design experience of mascaras. The three mascaras I observed are listed below with the Good & Bad.
Too FacedBetter Than S*x Waterproof Mascara
GOOD: The product packaging material is good and sturdy. It is a heavy weight but makes it feel like it is a luxurious item.
BAD: The want is not the best. The brush leaves a lot of clumps on your eyes. A redesign of the wand brush would be nice for the user. This way they are more please with the results.
Tumblr media
CoverGirl Lash Blast Lash & Brow Serum
GOOD: The wand has a very good design. It spreads out lashes and doesn't allow too much product to go everywhere around the eyes. The tube is also very good because it has something that doesn't allow an excess of product to flow out. I feel all mascaras should have that design part.
BAD: The shape of the wand handle is odd. I have had times where the wand slips off because of the odd shape at the handle.
Tumblr media
Charlotte TilburyPillow Talk Push Up Lashes Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara
GOOD: The design of the handle is sturdy and well. It also has a nice feel to it making a luxury brand item.
BAD: The wand brush can use a redesign. If you are a first time user for this mascara the brush design can get very messy leaving a lot of mascara build up with one stroke. The brush is odd because of its shape there are comb like teeth but only on two sides of the brush instead of all over like traditional brushes.

Week7
This week we explore UXD in a physical form rather than online. We compare two skincare product design.
Good: The bottle is secured so if it is dropped it won’t break and spill.
Bad: The cap is not friendly to all users. It can be hard to open. Specially if someone of old age is the user or someone using only one hand to push the cap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fenty Skin Total Cleans’r
Good: I absolutely love the package design for this cleanser. The cap is twist so it is easy to open.
Bad: I am not sure if it is the product formula but when squeezing out the product it can be hard and the bottle stays stuck not forming back to its original shape.

Week 6
This week we explore QR Code Menus that have been popular at restaurants due to the pandemic. The two locations are Buffalo Wild Wings and Silverlake Ramen. When arrived you are informed that you can view the menus by scanning the QR code which will take you to the weblink where you can view the menu.
Tumblr media
Silverlake Ramen: Their menu provided on the weblink was a PDF version with no visuals. There was only text and a few symbols that indicated vegetarian or spicy. After viewing the menu on my phone I noticed when checking in they had a pamphlet version which included pictures. Personally I enjoy a menu with images as it gives me a visual of the food offerings.
The good: The QR code menu was detailed. The print menu included pictures and was readable.
The Bad: The QR code menu was hard to read on my iPhone. There was a need to zoom in and even then the text looked blurry. A redesign of the menu for better readability on mobile devices would help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buffalo Wild Wings: Once seated at a table a QR code is provided on the edge of the table. The link opens up and you are greeted by the homepage which includes featured items. The menu is very well designed and easy to access. There are three tabs at the bottom that read “Features”, “Food”, and “Beverages”. There is also a “Jump to menu section” tab located at the top of the menu.
Tumblr media
On the bar food section if we select the top tab we see different categories which is very helpful if you want to jump around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I scrolled down I noticed they had cauliflower wings as an options. I wanted to see a picture which I noticed the symbol on items from the menu. Once I clicked it I was provided with an image of how the wings look. I was very excited for the “wings” and the fact that the menu had the options to view pictures of the possible food choices.
Tumblr media
In the wings section it took me a while to find the sauce flavors. I had to ask friends for help. Since they had already been there they pointed out it was a three circle symbol to the right bottom corner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Beverage section it was helpful to have a tab where you are able to jump around just incase you did not want alcoholic drinks and wanted to go straight to the other options.
Tumblr media
Good: The QR code menu design is very well put together. It is interactive which is helpful when there are so many options. They provided users with picture of the food items, tab options to jump around the menu and easy readability.
Bad: They missed the mark on the sauces. I know it is a pop up menu but to me the placement is off. I did not look to the right bottom corner at all and I am sure others have not as well. Maybe a new placement like the left top corner would help locate the sauce options since that is the first place most people look at.

Week 5
This week we explore UXD in a digital form. I compare two skincare websites with their skin quiz.
NOLA Skincare:
We are present at first with their homepage highlighting their feature products.
Tumblr media
I then click the Skin Quiz
Tumblr media
I start the Skin Quiz were I am asked several multiple choice questions about my skin.
Tumblr media
Once done with the quiz prior to receiving the y skin quiz result I am asked for my name and email to access the result.
Tumblr media
Once I provided I am presented with results. These are a list of the products that best work with my skin according to the quiz.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good: You can tell the web design is very well put together. I can see this because when I zoomed out of the whole website everything stayed in place with size and proportion.
Bad: The quiz has multiple choice questions however the square next to the choices lead me to think I can click multiple that apply. However, that is not the case. I also feel that asking for name and email is not a great choice. What if I do not want to provide that information. There should be a skip option so we are able to get straight to the results.
Rosen Skincare:
For Rosen Skincare we are presented with a homepage where the headline is Taking The Quiz to determine what is best fro your skin routine.
Tumblr media
Once I click the link I am presented with the introduction to their skin quiz.
Tumblr media
I then start the quiz which is multiple choice.
Tumblr media
The quiz is completed and the results are in.
Tumblr media
I zoomed out of the page
Tumblr media
Good: I enjoyed taking their quiz despite the bad. I like that you ae right away presented with the results on what skin routine would work best for you based on your answers.
Bad: Once again the multiple choice have boxes next to them leading me to think you can select more than one answer. You also can't go back to change your answers. Another thing is that I zoomed out of the website and noticed that all the text got smaller however the images become large.

Week 4
This week we explore UX in a physical form. Within the last two weeks I have assmbling two different clothing racks from Ikea. Assembling both were different experiences. I will describe both below.
Tumblr media
This clothing rack was very easy to assemble and It did not require much except for the tools and pieces that were already included in the box.
The Good: Easy to assemble and minimal look.
The Bad: The quality is not good and for the price point it is disappointing to have the clothing rack specially if it is being used for coats.
Tumblr media
This clothing rack was a bit more challenging to assemble. Aside from the tools and pieces already included I had to get a screwdriver.
The Good: It is stylish and has multiple uses.
The Bad: It was a bit challenging to assemble specially on a hot day.

Week Three:
Week 3: This week we look at UXD with physical objects.
The two items I will be comparing are two electronic facial cleansing brushes.
Clarisonic MIA2: I have had this brush for a very longtime and I feel it has worked really well since day one except until recently when I replaced my brush head. The good about this device is that it has a 60 minute timer when cleansing your face. You can feel a pulse for every 20 seconds to indicate you can rotate to a new area. The device has a power button and a button above to change the speed. I usually just use the default speed as I don't want anything with more pressure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bad about the device is that when I recently replaced my brushed I realized it was a new design. it is a bigger brush head that at first it did not bother me. However, after using it twice I realized it was a lot bigger which caused me to hurt my skin when I rotated it around. I ended up with a cut on my nose because the brush head pops out so much. I also noticed that it no longer fit in its case.
Tumblr media
FOREO LUNA fofo: I bought this cleansing brush a few years after I had the Clarisonic brush. The good UXD about this brushed is that it is all made out of silicone so I don't need to buy brush head replacements. One of the best features about this specific version is that it has two sensors in the back right above the power button where it is able to connect with bluetooth to my phone so the sensors can detect my skin and what it needs. When you connect to the app it asks a few questions about your age and skin type then it guides the user on how to use the sensors on the device. Once the process is done then you have a new cleansing brush pulses depending on your skins needs. This is a great feature because it personalizes your usage for the device.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bad about this device is that from what I have heard the life on the device can vary. It only requires a small battery but eventually the device might stop working. I would assume if water got in after not properly putting the new battery in. The way this could be improved is if they redesigned to a rechargeable type. Another bad about this is when dry it can be hard to remove the small eyebrow hairs that can potentially get stuck between the bristles.

Week Two: We explore UXD in a good and bad form. The two websites I explored were H&M and Uniqlo. I will be comparing the two websites based off shopping for a Graphic T-Shirt.
Note: I used my phone to record my H&M experience and screenshot the process for UNiqlo but accessed these sites on google chrome app for iPhone.
H&M:
Home Screen - the menu has good readability and accessible. I choose to hit the drop down (menu ≡ ) located on the top left corner. From what I’ve seen most websites have their menu at the top. When we click the menu we see a list of menu options I select WOMEN>TOPS>RESULTS in Tops scroll page. I immediately see a graphic T-Shirt and Click on it. Once I do click on it we see there are other options available for example a t-shirt with a Mickey Mouse graphic on it. If I scroll further down we have another menu option which is great since we don’t have to scroll back up to jumó around to a different category. This menu is labeled SHOP with a PLUS SIGN ( + ) beside it. We can also see more TOPS suggestions displayed above it. As well as other information about H&M. Overall this is an example of a good UXD because of the many available options to navigate the website. Qualities such as easy access, readability and simple/clear web design make it a good UXD Design Experience.
Uniqlo:
Home Screen- From my first experience up until now my user experience with the Uniqlo website has been confusing. This maybe because I always have a hard time finding the menu. I’ll usually go based off the homepage link but when I want to look for specific things I always have trouble finding the menu. This has been one of the few websites where the menu is located at the bottom of the screen. When I finally do find the menu I try to find the graphic T-shirt section I go under Menu>Women>Clothing>Tops>UT:Graphic Tees once I find the Graphic Tees there is the top collections listed. As we scrolled down we see Shop by collections starting off with the Uniqlo and Disney Tees. As we keep scrolling there is other categories. I clicked on the Disney Furry Friends and get a list of shirts. After I select a Lady and the Tramp shirt you get to select size as well as details and Other design suggestions. At the bottom of the site you just find other information about UNiqlo. But no menu to continue shopping meaning you have to scroll back up to continue shopping in other categories. Overall, I enjoy the products Uniqlo has to offer because they always have so many Disney Collections to offer and the clothing they have however I do not enjoy the online experience I would rather go shop in person. For me UNiqlo has a bad UXD, this is probably due to the fact that I rarely am able to find the menu quickly as I do with other websites.
