Making a small announcement to keep everyone who is still waiting for their sending piece up to date! We've started going straight to DMs since it felt redundant to post public reminders for so few people. They've been consistently checked in on and everyone is up to date! As we run to our final week, we've begun asking for ETAs just in case it's possible to get it in before the very last day of posting. Thank you for everyone's needed patience!
In reflection of the very long window-time of posting and waiting, we've already started to brainstorm new due date systems, were we to run this event next year again (given we have good amount of interest too!)
Thank you, sincerely, to everyone who has participated and followed along. All in all the event has gone fantastically!

Jan 10th Check-in Reminder
The day is coming up once again! Going to copy paste since I said well enough last time:
You will need another visual WIP if you have not finished by then, preferably one with progress since your last, however we will always listen if you've had trouble through your time working! From then on after the 10th Jan check-up, we will asking for updates weekly, up until the hard-cut off date on 31st of January.
We're cracking down early so people won't miss out their parts by the end of the month!! Either way, hope everyone's start of the year has been well.

Star Sending Posting Period has begun!
I see many of you have posted your lovely parts already! Thank you so much, the privilege to see many of these form into their final product has been very special. I hope everyone has been enjoying watching all the posted pieces just as much as I have. Don't forget to tag your post #pokestarsending2023 if you haven't! We'll start reblogging everyone's posts shortly.
For those who haven't finished, don't worry! We've taken account on how this week can always be the busiest. As said in our initial info post, you have until the 10th of January until the next check-up. You will need another visual WIP if you have not finished by then, preferably one with progress since your last, however we will always listen if you've had trouble through your time working! From then on after the 10th Jan check-up, we will asking for updates weekly, up until the hard-cut off date on 31st of January. That should be more than enough time to finish! Don't forget, we've got many people who are willing to be helpful backups, just to even assist you in your own work rather than make a new one to replace you!
Happy Holidays! Have a merry time. You've all already made me so joyous for having this very first run of Star Sending a success.

I'll be replying to all the WIP checks that I haven't today! Thanks for waiting, I'm happy to say that everyone has kept up to date and on top of things. I can't express my gratitude enough for this.
Everyone's work in progresses, ideas, finished products and overall hard work has been lovely to see. I'm very chuffed, I was always worried about how it'd go down, but everyone has done a wonderful job in this concept. Thank you all so much! I cannot wait for when these start posting, all of them have been so fun and cool and very special.

Gift Submission Example No.4 - Writing Example
This Gift Submission example comes from @askthepaldeanpassenger, who wanted to share a sample for the writing submission type. This one was written for @askcursedtales. It follows all the minimum requirements for the “Comic” example, detailed below.
It's a little bit late, but if you wanted any guidance or direction on a writing submission, feel free to give it a look! Just be warned that it's a much longer piece at 6 pages and way more than the writing minimum. Just a heads up!
BREAKDOWN:
Meets the minimum requirements for a Writing Submission, 600 words minimum, outlines the process of preparing the gift as well as delivering it to the recipient. (Word count is much longer than the minimum, which was just the style of the writer! We would expect at least the gathering of the gift and delivery of it.)
Includes an open end, enough for the recipient to reply or continue the interaction should they chooses to do so.
Balances between the sender's characters/world and the recipient's.

Meets the minimum requirements for a Comic Submission, a clean sketch with 3 separate panels.
Includes the character for whom the gift is for. (As with before, including your own character is not required, but is highly encouraged!)
Shows the delivery and receiving of the gift.
Leaves room for the recipient to be able to reply and continue the interaction. It's considerate towards the recipient and follows the spirit of Star Sending!

Reminder the check-up is coming tomorrow.
You will have a week upon our check in message to provide a WIP (if you have not in the first check in) before we assign a backup! We will be considerate if you have explanations, but we really value gifts being in time for the holiday season. See you tomorrow and excited to see what you have!
Hey there! I'm putting in a early reminder that we have the second check-in in a week's time from now. This one will be crucial IF you have not sent a visual proof of work-in-progress (A prose, panel sketches, etc.) since we need to know that you'll be able to get it in time for the deadline! Please prepare something in advance, especially so that you won't be scrambling for when the due date arrives!
However, I'll be happy to say that everybody had checked in for the first round!! I'm super appreciative that everyone was staying on board. Sincerest apologies for everyone I didn't reply to, life was not kind enough to let me handle everything as I wanted to. But worry not- we have everyone marked down and passed. I have a few messages I know I have to reply to still and I will get to them ASAP, but if you would like, you are free to bump our DMs.
See you next week!

Gift Submission Example No.2 - Comic Example
This Gift Submission example comes from @ask-enchantingdelights, who was so kind as to do a gift for @askthepaldeanpassenger! It follows all the minimum requirements for the “Comic” example, detailed below.
BREAKDOWN:
Meets the minimum requirements for a Comic Submission, a clean sketch with 3 separate panels. (The colored backgrounds and color is nice to add to the gift, but is not necessary for the Comic minimum.)
Includes the character for whom the gift is for. (Including your own character is not required, but is highly encouraged!)
Shows the delivery of the gift as well as its opening by the recipient. (NOTE: While the text after is not required for the minimum, it makes the gift feel more personal!)
Leaves room for interaction should the recipient decide to do so. (Doing so is not required, and only further personalizes the gift and event between users and characters!)
And of course, it follows the spirit of Star Sending!

ASK-ENCHANTINGDELIGHTS’ Star Sending Event Gift Submission

While the Sprigatito was left stunned, Flan took the opportunity to reach into the gift box and take out the toy in full. Once out, she floated over the Jolteon toy's head and pushed it back into a different, purple box, then closed the lid back over it. Flan motioned to a golden turn handle rested on the side of the toy box.
Painted-on graphics of yellow thunderbolts and stars accompanied the outside of the box. White fluffy clouds surround the top of the box while the lid itself had an illustration of a smiling goofy face, the same one the Jolteon inside was wearing.
Flan made sure the lid was shut tight before pushing it back towards Prince with a smile.

Gift Submission Example No.1 - Art Example
This Gift Submission example comes from @ask-enchantingdelights, who was so kind as to do a sample gift for @askshinyglaceon! It follows all the minimum requirements for the “Art” example, shown below.
BREAKDOWN:
Meets the minimum requirements for an Art Submission, a fully-colored full body piece. (The added background and additional picture is to convey the gift being received and opened, and is not necessary for the Art minimum.)
Includes the character for whom the gift is for. (Including your own character is not required, but is highly encouraged!)
Details what effort was put into the gift by the blog’s character(s). Furthermore, this gift keeps a lighthearted tone.
Leaves room for interaction should the recipient decide to do so. (Doing so is not required, and only further personalizes the gift and event between users and characters!)
Most importantly, follows the spirit of Star Sending!

Don't forget- If you do not respond within the week since I sent a check-in, we WILL be re-assigning you to a backup. You don't need to have a WIP if you don't have one yet! Just let us know you're here and still aware you're doing it.
I've yet to reply to everyone, but thank you for all the responses! There's also one person I promised to read/check over your completed gift so far, which also thank you for waiting. We're trying to tackle things during an understandably busy month for many people. We still intend to also do those Sender submission examples! Just in case anybody still is unconfident with how they're directing their own.
If you've been missed from a check-in message (if you have not sent a WIP, or have not completed your part), please let me know! Through ask, or dm @ask-shiny-umbreon or @askthepaldeanpassenger
November 25th Check in reminder!
Whew! Time goes fast, huh?
Reminder that we have a check-in tomorrow! It's alright if you haven't started anything (I have not lol), this is just to make sure nobody who signed up has forgotten that they need to do something. Only a verbal reply is needed - we just need to know that you're on board! HOWEVER, if you provide a visual work in progress, you won't require to show one on the 15th of December.
Feel free to message us ahead of time for the check-in! But we will be messaging everyone personally anyway, come tomorrow. Remember, if you don't reply within a week of us messaging you, we will have to drop you and assign a backup. Please communicate with us if you will be away for a period of time and can't meet a check in!

Okay just so I don't confuse myself anymore, heh-
So would we be allowed to do like an in character styled comic of our character(s) like giving the Wishlist items to our receiver's character(s)?
Amd sorry If you have already answered this question before- I just sort of wanted to double check myself again
I'm a little confused about what an "In-character styled comic" would be, but this sounds it would be correct otherwise! You can have your character give the wishlist item to the receiver in person.

Two questions:
Assuming that everything on a list is 'possible' to fulfill, are we allowed to fulfill multiple requests if it in our character's nature to do so?
Are we allowed to have multiple characters work to make/obtain the gift(s)? The intro post shows a snom and popplio working together so I assumed this would be fine but I wanted to ask.
Sorry if these are answered somewhere and I missed it or if these are silly questions, just trying to do "rather safe than sorry."
No worries! These were more subjective things, anyway. Don’t feel bad for asking at all!
1) If your character would see another character’s list and take it upon themself to fulfill the entire list, there is not much wrong in doing so! The only note in doing so is not to neglect focus on any of the items, so that the obtaining/making of the multiple gifts feels equally important. It’s the thought that counts!
Furthermore, any OOC notes that the recipients provided to us (and thus provided to you) should mention something to this effect; “character A has items 1, 2, and 3, but PLEASE if you try to fulfill the list, don’t get both items 1 and 3.” Of course, if you’re worried about your recipient not wanting to receive multiple items on a list, you can reach out directly to Roo or Averie and we can ask and double check with your recipient on your behalf!
2) ABSOLUTELY! There is no restriction on the number of characters you can use to fulfill a wishlist request.
We’ll be posting some sample submissions later on to help give an idea on how to approach this as well, for anyone wanting to do this but not sure how to go about it.

All assignments for Star Sending should be sent out now! Let us know if you signed up and you didn't get your message.
I also realised that IMs aren’t available to multi-member side blogs which… sucks. If you want to use the tumblr IM system, go message @ask-shiny-umbreon or @askthepaldeanpassenger instead.
We still plan to make examples for how you can do your Star sending posts, for those who may be blanking. And backup forms will open soon!
happy star sending!
