Statement of Support for Black Lives

Because we believe silence equals complicity, we feel it's important we state our position on the murders and racial violence Black people face daily. 

We are heartbroken and enraged at the way Black individuals are treated in the United States and across the world. The murder of so many Black people--most recently in the United States George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and Ahmaud Arbury--is a perpetuation of the white supremacy on which this country was founded and built. 

We support the protesters in the streets, activists, policy makers, and everyone else who is working to enact social change. We have a lot of work to do to make the changes that are essential to the health of the United States and world, and we appreciate everyone who is digging in and doing the work. 

We have worked to be allies and support Black people, and we know we can do more. We are working to determine what else we can do to educate ourselves and support Black individuals, artists, and causes; we're looking forward to having this conversation with our communities and beyond. 

For now, we are actively listening and keeping current on the events that have been escalating over the last two weeks. We hope the escalation of action and the raising of voices for change will continue. There is deeply entrenched bigotry and violence in the United States and it will take time to dig out this hatred and make the necessary essential changes for the health of our country, and our world.

We believe in the value of stories to bring hope and fill people's wells, things we believe so many need right now. In order to do our part in this, we will release a new community mini-episode of our podcast in the coming week; we've put a hold on this episode for now to do our part to ensure there's as much room as possible for Black voices. We need stories that bring hope and the diverse perspectives of marginalized voices, stories that support change and community. This has always been part of the makeup of our projects and we recommit to these values.
