Adhd things that need to be talked more about (because adhd is more than just not being able to focus)
Short term memory loss. Seriously, I forget things that are said to me 5 minutes ago or will forget I opened a soda and will have 3 open cans by the end of the day with none of them finished. A lot of people don’t know about this, and so they think that I don’t care enough to listen to what their saying (which I do!!! I just can’t remember it) or that I’m lazy because of all the things I don’t end up doing because I forgot I had to do them.
Lack of motivation. Listen, I honestly can’t do anything on my own for the most part. I have to have someone else tell me to do something or have them set goals for me because it’s so damn difficult for me to do it myself. Again, I’m not lazy, I just have trouble doing things on my own
Language processing difficulties. Sometimes, English and words in general don’t work out in my head. Reading or even listening to someone talk can be extremely difficult for me to understand because my brain just won’t work. Why? Can’t tell you 99% of the time! It’s not that I need to focus, it’s that my brain is just buffering.
Needing multiple forms of stimulation at all times. I have a tin of putty that I keep in my book bag and a smaller one I keep in my purse at all times because of this reason. If I want to learn anything at school, I have to be able to look at something, hear something, and have something to do with my hands. Otherwise, it’s probably a big nope for me. What’s frustrating is that since this isn’t talked about enough, I often get called childish or get looked down upon because I have to play with silly putty in a highschool class.
Hyperfixation. Adhd can mean not being able to focus, but it’s also focusing too much on something! This can mean anything from a certain interest someone is in to at that moment, to something like a song that has been stuck in your head for a week. People seem to not understand this and think that we’re boring and have nothing else to talk about or that we’re annoying because we keep bringing the same things up over and over again but that’s not the case. Trust me, I’m annoyed with the hit or miss song too, but at least it’s not playing in your head constantly like it is for me
These are all the ones I can think of right now, but it’s really important we talk about this stuff more. All of these things that come with adhd can be very frustrating for those around us because they don’t understand that we can’t help it. To an outsider, it may just look like a person with adhd is just lazy and doesn’t care, when it’s actually just how our brains are wired. None of us want to be frustrating to others!! In fact, all of this frustrates us too!! But since adhd is just known as “not being able to focus”, people don’t realize what all comes with it and how it can really fuck everyone over.
Please add more if you can think of anything else!! I’m horrible with lists lol

A friend asked me how I draw feet/shoes so I made this quick thing for them on how I breakdown feet when drawing. Thought it might be useful to someone else.

Coming from a state champion baker:
If y’all use a decent box mix and use melted butter instead of vegetable oil, an extra egg, and milk instead of water, no one can tell the difference. I sure as hell can’t.
Also, if you add a little almond extract to vanilla cake, or a little coffee to chocolate cake, it sends it through the roof.
This concludes me attempting to be helpful.

its really weird to see all these articles about how people who have ADHD have sleeping problems but the issue I have is that if you look at it as a matter of your circadian rythym being out of sync? of COURSE you’re not going to be able to sleep. we don’t say people who can’t fall asleep at 4 pm and sleep 8 hours have insomnia, because that’s not a normally agreed upon time to sleep and its not your bodies time to sleep. if you tell someone to go to bed at 10 and they can’t sleep till 3 am sometimes in just not insomnia. people with ADHD are often wired to sleep from 4 am to 12 pm ish because of the delayed onset of melatonin but if you let us go to bed at the time we need? most of us actually sleep pretty well and consistently.

🌼PSYCH-ROCK REVIVAL🌼
if you’re a classic rock/psychedelic fan like me, then you know that you can only listen to your old records so many times before you’re craving something new. here are my favorite new PSYCHEDELIC, BLUES, FOLK, SURF, & ROCK N ROLL BANDS you should be listening to!
***All-female, female-fronted, or bands with female members will be bolded***
⚡️Greta Van Fleet🎸 - This blues-based rock and roll four-piece is blowing up all over the internet thanks to comparisons to The Band Who Shall Not Be Named, but the Michigan band of brothers have the talent to keep up with the hype. The members are all between 19 and 22 years old, but their brand of riff-heavy rock and powerhouse vocals harkens back to the classics. check them out performing their new single “When The Curtain Falls” on Jimmy Fallon.
🌈The Babe Rainbow🥦 - Underrated Australian indie-psych group with a late 60′s hippie sound and aesthetic. They play groovy, dance-able tunes with influences of funk, psychedelic rock, and folk. If you love a good sitar solo, this is your band. here’s their awesomely trippy video for the song “Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest”
🍋The Lemon Twigs🌿- Baroque-pop-rock duo with a retro melodic sound right out of the 60′s…. or a Wes Anderson film. This is another young band with impressive writing chops and influences ranging from British Invasion, to folk, to classical. watch the inexplicably odd video for their song “I Wanna Prove To You” here.
🍔Mac DeMarco🚬- He already has quite a following in the indie-rock scene, but his retro influence is quite clear in his exploration of a wide range of musical styles, from Dylan-esque acoustic folk to spaced-out 70′s dance tracks. his style is a bit hard to describe because it’s so unique, so check him out for yourself in the video for “My Kind of Woman”
🏝The Growlers☠️- California garage-party band churning out albums of their own self-titled style ‘beach goth’ since ‘09. Their psychedelic sound encapsulates elements of surf rock, folk, and reggae, though they have recently moved in a more produced, synth-pop direction. My best recommendation of where to start with their music would be the first three albums, Are You In or Are You Out?, Hot Tropics, and Hung at Heart. here they are performing “Beach Rats“
🌊The Surfrajettes🏄‍♀️- ALL-GIRL Canadian instrumental surf-rock band. Sooo groovy, the two guitarists expertly weave their playing and trade off on lead and rhythm. Do not underestimate how hard these ladies rock!!! check out their amazing surf cover of Britney Spears’ “TOXIC”
🔮Blues Pills💊- Though its members hail from Sweden, UK, and France, this female-fronted band puts out a heavy blues rock sound that is cohesive and refreshing as it is classic. Big Brother & The Holding Company fans rejoice! here’s the music video for “No Hope Left For Me”
🍄Siena Root🍁- Swedish retro rockers who are as much heavy, riff-based prog rock as they can be serene, sitar-soaked psychedelic folk. their 70′s influence is evident in their nostalgic video for “No Filters”
🐚Shannon and The Clams🧜‍♀️ - Energetic garage-rock with early 60′s pop, doo-wop, and surf influences. Also check out singing bassist Shannon Shaw’s queercore punk band, Hunx & His Punx, and her solo album, Shannon in Nashville. shake it on out to their song “The Boy”
🌵La Luz💃 - ALL-GIRL Californian surf rock band serving up atmospheric, psychedelic spaghetti western vibes. Perfect day dreaming music. check out their hilarious telanovela-inspired video for “Cicada”
🐓King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard🦎 - These prolific prog rock wizards are hard to leave off this list. This Australian band have experimented with numerous musical styles, from extended tripped-out rock jams, to jazz, folk, and electronica. get into the weirdness with “Trapdoor“
⛩Kikagaku Moyo👹 - Japanese heavy psychedelic rockers with a sound straight from the 70′s and an equal affinity for traditional Asian and Indian folk jams as they do mind-bending doom rock. their performance of “Tree Smoke” will take you places.
🚀The Murlocs👽- Another great indie band from Australia, their style is fuzzy garage-psych at its best. space out to their video for “Space Cadet.” that harmonica though!
💋The Regrettes🍭-This is the most pop-oriented group on this list, but the ¾ girl band has the energetic pop rock sound of 60′s girl groups, surf, and a dash of riot grrl punk for good measure. check them out in the video for “Hey Now”
💫Starcrawler💀 - Young LA heavy rockers reviving the spirit and sound of late 70′s punk with catchy melodies and theatrical stage antics a la Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper. here they are in their electrifying video for “Let Her Be”
if you like this list, feel free to check out my spotify playlist PSYCH ROCK REVIVAL, updated regularly.
if i left your favorite retro-sounding band off this list, let me know! i love new music recommendations. happy listening! 🌞🌻🎶
