it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.

RAYLENE • LITTLE SHADOW

Looking at herself in the mirror was harder, which seemed silly. But she could hear it, her father’s voice, warm and clear as day, telling her she’s got her mother’s eyes, her mother’s nose, her mother’s hair. And maybe that was supposed to be a compliment — he certainly thought it was — but in the past years Ray’s thoughts tended to drift down a darker path. Every year she got closer to the age her mother was when she died, and she always wondered if the resemblance still held up. With the necklace hanging from her neck, feeling impossibly heavy despite its size, Ray felt less like a person and more like a ghost.

i am once again saying the realization that the love interest / one of the main characters of my WIP looks like Callum Turner is a very humbling experiencing. I didn’t plan that but here we are.
