The Sims 4 Squid Game Challenge

When I watched Squid Game on Netflix, I thought it would be really fun to play it in The Sims–which is why I started a Sims 4 Squid Game Let's Play series on my YouTube channel! I had so much fun playing it that I wanted to share the rules and challenges with everyone for people to use.

If you're not familiar with Squid Game, or if you're familiar but you've never watched it, I would highly suggest you watch it first. But this series of challenges doesn't require you to watch the series to play and understand it. Anyone can play!

Disclaimer: The challenges are not identical to the challenges in the Netflix series. These are just workarounds but of course, we're limited to the activities we have in-game :)

STARTING THE GAME

1. Start a new game with 8 Sims. None of these Sims should have relationships set.

2. At the start of the game, make them all go inside the house.

3. As soon as they get inside, lock the door–the only door–so nobody can go out. You may also opt to have no doors at all.

4. After that, fill all of their needs by shift+clicking on the mailbox so nobody has a headstart.

STARTING THE CHALLENGES

You may do one of two things:

* Give them a day or two to recuperate and take care of themselves (with full autonomy on) without controlling any of them

* Before the challenges, fill up the household needs so they don't accidentally die on you lol

KILLING OFF SIMS

Feel free to do this however you like! In my gameplay, I had my first sim died of embarrassment. Once I had only 7 sims left, I added a pink "guard" to kill off my sims using the Extreme Violence mod.

I killed off one sim per episode except in the second one where I killed two, but feel free to choose how many Sims you'd like to kill off per challenge, as long as you end up with 2 in the last one.

Challenge 1: Red Light, Green Light

How it works in the series: When the doll's head rotates and faces the players, nobody's allowed to move. If they move, they die.

Gameplay:

* Set up a room with one treadmill for each sim.

* Teleport them all in front of their respective treadmills.

* Pause the game and queue up the workout interaction for all of them.

* Play the game once they're all queued up. Whoever steps off of the treadmill first loses.

Challenge 2: The Man with the Umbrella

How it works in the series: The players are asked to pick a stamped shape out of a dalgona without it breaking.

Gameplay:

* Set up a room with one easel for each sim.

* Make them paint three Figure Paintings each. Place their own paintings in their personal inventory.

* At the end of all the rounds, count the total amount of simoleons their paintings are worth. The player with the least amount of simoleons loses.

Challenge 3: Stick to the Team

How it works in the series: A tug-of-war on two raised platforms, where a team wins by dragging the opposing team off their platform and to their deaths.

Gameplay: (this challenge is I think the farthest from the actual game in the series, but I just figured... when Sims fish, it kind of looks like they're tugging a rope. idk LOL)

* Make all the Sims fish for three rounds.

* At the end of all the rounds, count the number of fish they have in their inventories (the number, not the simoleons!). Other items they get (trash, cowplants, etc) don't count. The player with the least number of fish loses.

Challenge 4: Gganbu

How it works in the series: The players are told to pair up. They expect that they will be working with their partner, but they're horrified to learn that they will actually be playing against their partner in a marble game of their choice.

Gameplay:

* Pair up each Sim with the player they're closest with. (When I played this, I had an even number of sims, but if you don't, the one who's least close to everyone gets to be safe. They don't join the challenge but don't die either.)

* Have them play basketball and count their points. Whoever loses gets killed.

Challenge 5: Front Man

How it works in the series: This is not exactly a game but the finalists are given a change of clothes and a fancy steak dinner. When dinner is cleared, each of them is left with a knife.

Gameplay:

* Prepare a dining hall and give each of your remaining players a place to eat. Also have a toilet prepared.

* Give them one serving of spoiled food each.

* Whoever throws up first loses. In my experience, I've had to feed them spoiled food thrice before one of them threw up. You might want to give them poisoned food instead, but I didn't want to risk accidentally killing them through poisoning.

Challenge 6: The Finale

How it works in the series: The final game is the eponymous Squid game. Whoever completes the game wins.

Gameplay:

* Prepare an obstacle course for your Sims. Mine is shaped sort of like the squid game arena with swimming, mural painting, and chair sections. The video above would better explain this :)

* Whoever finishes first wins the game!
