Many industries that use modular tanks handle hazardous substances that can harm the land, air, and water and the living things in them. Secondary containment tanks collect hazardous substances like excess oil, chemicals, or nuclear waste. These tanks are commonly made of fiberglass and metals like treated steel; these materials are strong and durable, but the tanks have to be inspected regularly for leaks. Here are some industries that use such tanks to protect the environment from waste.
Chemical process industries primarily use these tanks for keeping enormous tanks to keep surplus and waste chemicals. Chemical process involves turning chemicals into various products for other manufacturing industries. Synthetic chemicals like some plastics and metals can become hazardous wastes because of the destructive consequences of not disposing these materials properly. The secondary containment tanks keep these substances from escaping and potentially harming the environment.
Pharmaceutical industries have similar chemical processing techniques. These factories process medicinal substances from various chemicals that have to be kept in place with Secondary containment tanks. Pharmaceutical industries also produce hygienic products like dentifrices (toothpastes and mouth rinse), soaps, and detergents. These contain chemicals that are potentially harmful to the environment in large quantities and must be controlled. More help Plastic Chemical Tanks
Among these chemicals and substances are lubricants like petroleum, which is used as fuel for machinery and in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries for mineral-based soaps and moisturizers. Petroleum is a valuable product in fuel processing industries; there are tanks for fuel storage either for raw materials or for finished products that are to be carefully packed and distributed.
These industries end up creating what is known as industrial sludge. Industrial sludge releases hazardous liquid and gaseous substances into the environment. It is required to be kept in septic tanks where the waste is controlled. Sewage and water treatment industries particularly take care to dispose of waste products properly and keep them in controlled environments at all times.
Government agencies in charge of environmental concerns require these industries to use seismic tanks, tanks that effectively keep hazardous substances in control and avoiding leaking and spilling in the event of an earthquake. These are self-standing tanks with flat bottoms or supports that place them firmly on the floor. These are also required to have sufficiently thick bottoms to hold chemicals and wastes in place. Electric utility industries are particularly required to use these tanks because they use plastics, metals, and potential energy.
