Ferns in the Redwoods

In my story: How can one not revere the Redwoods? Their size and age dwarf all other living things...almost. What kind of character can you attach to that?

My Redwood characters do not mingle with the other forest spirits or bother with their concerns. They are not snobs or arrogant, but rather wise, collected, and grand. They have figured out life and enjoy it without distraction.
