responding to this indirectly bc i don't feel like arguing in the replies (IF ANYONE SEES THIS DO NOT ARGUE ON MY BEHALF) but please don't accuse me of deliberately bashing the show or accusing yana toboso of being a nazi. i understand that my wording is up for interpretation, but to be clear, the guesses i stated do not reflect my own beliefs; i've done my own critical thinking on the subject and agree with much of the analysis in the specific reply i'm referencing, and i don't particularly appreciate that accusation.
slightly off-topic but just a bit of elaboration on this post: doing my own research wasn't coming up with a lot of the information about what i wanted, and crowdsourcing on tumblr guaranteed at least one response that might (and did! i didn't find out about the twst interview on my own, for example) give me something new.
in regards to the antisemitism part specifically: i've seen multiple tumblr/tiktok posts referencing yana toboso being antisemitic without providing evidence and otherwise being incredibly untrustworthy sources, but the frequency of the posts combined with my purchase of a ciel cosplay that came with three accessories i had to throw out for their close similarities to nazi symbols (the nazi eagle and the iron cross) inspired me to look closer. my own research and analysis of the manga didn't give me anything, but to be safe i wanted to get further opinions (with the caveat that tumblr replies aren't automatically trustworthy sources either lol).
normally i wouldn't respond to an internet stranger insulting me, but the association with serious topics like antisemitism made me feel the need to clarify.
ok. posting this on my abandoned sideblog instead of searching the tags bc im slightly afraid of the fandom but: when people say it's bad to like/read/watch black butler (thinking of a post in which op insinuated watching black butler was morally wrong, which may or may not be an extreme example) what do they mean and what specifically are they referring to?
i haven't read black butler in a while so my best guesses are 1. it's about the british empire and the concept of a royalty-sponsored extra-violent policeman; and so liking the show means something about one's opinion on royals/classism/cops? or something else? or 2. the fandom is pretty heavily populated by sebaciel shippers; and so the implication is that the show or other fans condone pedophilia?
ive also seen the occasional post referencing yana toboso being antisemetic/including nazi imagery in the manga, but none of the posts have ever provided details, although i'd believe it if i saw an example given its been. a hot second since i read it.
is there something i'm missing or misremembering? i'd really appreciate it if i could get an overview or smth. ty!

Fanart of Jobu Tupaki and her iconic costumes from the movie. Congrats to Stephanie Hsu on her Oscar nomination, it’s about time!!
I had to do a lot of research to draw the looks accurately, so thank you to the EEAAO styling team for posting high quality photo refs but also for their stellar work overall.
You can get a closer look at each of the outfits by selecting any image on the bottom row!
Also, bonus look that unfortunately didn't make the cut below ;)
can u believe i haven’t drawn musical!karen probably since nick blaemire was playing plankton… anyway of all the costumes in the spongebob musical as much as i like the idea of karen’s costume… i think they missed a trick by not taking the 60s-space-age aesthetic up to an 11 with her… and i think she really should have had a cube shaped wig. and extreme highlight. 📺✨📺✨
it’s such a small moment but plankton and karen dancing together in best day ever is hands-down my favorite part of the spongebob musical.. I love them
If you haven’t had a chance to catch The Spongebob Musical please be aware that Plankton has a show-stopping number that includes a rap and extended dance break.
