if you have time to scroll, you have time to read.
however, i'll start with a shorter version. family currently living in a tent in al mawasi:
two adults
three young adults
16 year old
14 year old
4 year old
infant
and
19 year old in egypt, separated from the family, and at risk of getting expelled from college due to tuition fees
no winter clothes. insufficient food. diapers needed for the baby. donate here. it takes thirty seconds. anything helps.
more information for those willing to spare more time:
a month after my new friend lobana (@lobana2001) got her bachelor's in english translation, israel's bloodthirsty attacks on gaza began. she also recently became an aunt to baby aziz. it should be a time of celebration for her, but, instead, she lives in a tent with the rest of her family and is forced to worry about whether her newborn nephew will stay warm enough as winter settles in.
her sister (nahariya) and her husband biggest problem should be baby aziz teething, not if they can afford to feed both themselves and the baby--if they can afford anything at all. mohammed should be continuing his studies in computer science, but his university was destroyed.
mamdouh should be able to devote his complete attention to his studies in medicine in egypt, but, with his family trapped in gaza, how can he?
luqman (16) and asim (14) should be learning who they are, making new friends and good memories, and finding their place in the world. bayna (4) and aziz (infant) shouldn't have to know fear at all!
and that's not to mention the parents, naseem and reem, who are under unimaginable levels of stress trying to help their children through this literal nightmare. please donate anything you can.
also: you can reach lobana on whatsapp! that's where i've been talking to her. you can message her on tumblr if you want her number. thank you so much if you read all of the way through. @batmanego @catgirl-lenin @lonniemachin

I genuinely think Mouthwashing fandom is a good example on how real life misogyny is very wired on people brains and influenced how they engage with fictional misogyny.
You have a story about a woman being assaulted and telling a man he trusted but being dismissed because he is friends with the attacker, and people fixate on shipping her with either of those me.
You have a story about how men that downplay their male friends violence, assume neutrality is the safer option, unintentionally help create an environment that's unsafe to vulnerable people, at a risk becoming a victim themselves. And people make it about toxic yaoi.
You have a character kill herself because she didn't want birth the child of her abuser. And people make AUs where she happily keep the baby.
Misogyny isn't just "I hate this women", it's also downplaying their trauma, defending those who caused it, and reducing them to mothers or wives against their wished under this idea of what womanhood is about.
I don't think we can separate fandom misogyny from it's real world influence, not yet.

Every time i purchase a moderately expensive item the Karl Marx on my shoulder is like "For shame... you purchase yet another pair of jeans when you have 5 already at home, you despicable commodity fetishist? In my time, a man with five outfits would consider himself blessed beyond measure, and yet you want for more, while there are children starving in the world??" to which the second Karl Marx on my other shoulder says "Objection! Those 5 pairs of jeans all wildly uncomfortable or have holes in the ass, due to the decline of clothing quality driven by the fast fashion industry, unfortunately making this purchase a necessity... Plus, by purchasing a slightly more expensive pair of jeans from an independent brand, seeking quality over 'brand recognition', they are deliberately trying to avoid engaging in conspicuous consumption!" to which the third Karl Marx clinging to my back like that beetle from Doctor Who says "Remember, my friend; the less you eat, drink, buy books, go to the theatre or to balls, or to the pub, and the less you think, love, theorize, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you will be able to save and the greater will become your treasure which neither moth nor rust will corrupt — your capital. Buy the jeans," to which I say "I don't know if any of you have actually read Karl Marx"

Nour's campaign is stagnating again. If you can, please consider donating. Her oldest son's health is deteriorating, her father-in-law urgently needs open-heart surgery abroad, and her youngest daughter, two-year-old Ghazal, is experiencing severe developmental delays because of all the trauma she has suffered in Gaza.
Currently: $38,005 / $90,000

comics nowadays are like “if we don’t tell the audience exactly what’s going on character wise how are they supposed to empathize with & never have bad feelings about a character. also if this character doesn’t know every single one of their own flaws how can they be self aware about them in a way that is #relatable to the people” take them out of therapy I swear to god I’ll kill us both

NO TIME LEFT FOR A PALESTINIAN GIRL AND HER FAMILY
Last spring, Laila contacted me asking me for help spreading her family’s campaign. It’s been over six months and it still hasn’t met it’s goal. I don’t even know what to say anymore to convinve peoole to care- I feel like everyone who’d be motivated to help already is. Literally any amount of money helps, and even if you are genuinely too broke to donate a dollar, spreading these campaigns so someone who can help matters. I fear for Laila every day, even before my account was terminated (which I can only assume was related to the spree of deletions occuring while people accused Palestinians and their supporters of being scammers) I hadn’t spoken to her in weeks, and I can only pray that she’s still alive- along with her pregnant mother and the rest of her family. Her cousin, Tala, had her account terminated, and her gofundme has closed. We’ve failed Tala, but it’s our obligation to help Laila before it’s too late as well. I’m offering commissions in exchange for donations of at least $15, examples below, and if anyone else has something to offer in exchange for commissions, I encourage you to sound off in the reblogs.
Every day there is a new massacre, a new atrocity, a new act of inhuman cruelty. We need to help those whose genocide is funded by our tax dollars. Laila is such a sweetheart, she’s an eighteen year-old girl who should be studying and beginning her life, not hunkering down in a tent while bombs fall around her like rain. Please spread this and donate whatever you can.
€32,195/€45,000- €2,815 TO €35K

Indigenous-led resistance to 21 fossil fuel projects in the U.S. and Canada over the past decade has stopped or delayed an amount of greenhouse gas pollution equivalent to at least one-quarter of annual U.S. and Canadian emissions.
This is despite an onslaught of attacks against Indigenous activists over the past few years. Over the last few years, victories won against projects through direct actions have led to more than 35 states enacting anti-protest laws, jail time for protestors, thousands of dollars of fines, and even the killing of prominent activists.
Indigenous rights and responsibilities “are far more than rhetorical devices — they are tangible structures impacting the viability of fossil fuel expansion.” Through physically disrupting construction and legally challenging projects, Indigenous resistance has directly stopped projects expected to produce 780 million metric tons of greenhouse gases every year and is actively fighting projects that would dump more than 800 million metric tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year.
The analysis, which used publicly released data and calculations from nine different environmental and oil regulation groups, found that roughly 1.587 billion metric tons of annual greenhouse gas emissions have been halted. That’s the equivalent pollution of approximately 400 new coal-fired power plants — more than are still operating in the United States and Canada — or roughly 345 million passenger vehicles — more than all vehicles on the road in these countries.
“From an Indigenous perspective, when we are confronting the climate crisis we are inherently confronting the systems of colonization and white supremacy as well,” Goldtooth said. “In order to do that, you have to reevaluate how you relate to the world around you and define what your obligations are to the world around you. It’s more than just stopping fracking development and pipelines and it’s more than just developing clean energy, it’s about actually fundamentally changing how we see the world itself.”

We are trying to be safe, but unfortunately there is no safe place. We are all targets. You know we could die at any moment, and I was not here with you. Life is more difficult than you can imagine, but we do not give up. I will protect my daughters and keep them warm from the cold and not let them sleep hungry. I will do everything I can. I promised them that I would I will fight for them🥺🙏
In the coming days, I may give birth. I feel that. These days, it will be difficult for me to be here. I appeal to you to participate and donate. Please, be the one who supports and shares my birth on a daily and continuous basis. Please, and I will try, to be able to talk to everyone and post pictures of my new baby. Please pray for me to do so. In safety, in light of these difficult circumstances and the cold weather, and receiving my newborn in a tent, I pray to God to protect, and I thank every person who helped me and continues to defend my family. He feels the pain we live through🥺😢

Okay I've said before that part of why transmisogyny exempt (TME) people who aren't cis men so often think that TME only means transmasculine and/or cafab people generally is that they are holding on to a belief in sex essentialism which makes it so they literally cannot concieve of themselves as in the same oppressive category as cis men but I really think it's more than that.
"Cis men"—not the actual large demographic of living, breathing people in this world—but the idea of cis men as they have been conceived within queer pop feminist discourse, are people who's transmisogyny is obvious. From violent hate crimes to chasing, these aspects of transmisogyny are well known within pop culture at large and are almost exclusively attributed to cis men. Think of how many movies or shows you've seen with jokes at the expense of trans sex workers. Now think of how many of those jokes, rapes, or murders on screen were done by cis men.
This widespread knowledge means that those with even a nominal support for transfems easily and widely condemn these acts of violence. But this conception of transmisogyny—as something separate from queer progressive movements and only limited to fetishization and extreme acts of violence—allows them to ignore their own participation in the more base, less physically violent forms of transmisogyny that they themselves also enforce through social exclusion and abuse which create the conditions for isolation, poverty, and high murder rates to exist.
Nevermind that nearly every demographic other than cis men also commit acts of physical abuse and violence against transfems. Nevermind that cis men, both those who support transfems and those who don't, also enforce the same base social exclusion that everyone else does too. These facts are at best paid lip service to or outright ignored to maintain the belief that the primary enforcers of transmisogy are cis men.
"Cishet men" being positioned this way as fundamentally alien to progressivism through their dominant enforcement of cisheteropatriarchy haunts so much pop queer discourse as the culprit for every aspect of our oppression. Growing out of the 2013 "male tears" buzzfeed jokes type of pop feminism, it's near foundational for so many of the conversations, theorizations, and jokes that are expressed within our shared spaces.
This combination of a widespread obfuscation of base levels of transmisogyny on a societal level and the more niche belief that cis men are the primary or even exclusive enforcers of queer oppression generally creates an ideology where queer people who aren't cis men see themselves as incapable of oppressing us. This along with their held on to sex essentialism is what allows them to believe that it's actually trans women who oppress them from us being "male" and even that it is they who are really affected by transmisogyny.
Therefore when we talk about transmisogyny within wider queer spaces and talk about it as synonymous with how cis men treat us, they cannot help but call us ignorant or liars because this fact challenges so much of their pop queer feminist world view that reckoning it would shake their own self conception as inherently progressive and moral. Seeing themselves as participating in and benefiting from transmisogyny seems to them as wildly outlandish as saying that men don't benefit from patriarchy seems to us.
