Surely no one in the bible ever changes their name and identity to live a more fulfilling life
#i’m glad you brought this up#name changes in the bible often represent some sort of spiritual transformation#for example avram and sarai changing their name to abraham and sarah#or jacob taking on the name israel after wrestling with an angel#also in ashkenazi communities when someone survived a near death experience or illness they were given a new name or the prefix#altar#meaning old#so when the angel of death would come for the person they wouldn’t be able find them as they go by a new name now#sephardi communities also have a ton of superstitions#all of this to say#names are something very important in judaism and i’ve always found that parallel tp the trans experience really meaningful
