Muircheartaigh's eyes widened as the trainer introduced herself: two months was such a little time, yet here she stood after journeying throughout the region, all peppy attitude and motivation and unfaltering disposition when faced with him.
He was impressed so far.
But surely Nepeta would still have to defeat him to truly earn his approval.
Her first choice of Pokémon bode well for her chances, and the master mentally congratulated her for it.
As he took a few steps back, Steelix moved in the opposite direction, its long, metallic body scratching the surface of the arena as it loosely coiled around the Torkoal.
It waited for its trainer's order, which soon came, at the drop of a gesture. Steelix made an incredible display as it reacted to the order, gnawing through the layer of steel covering the arena so it could Dig way underground.
There, it waited.
It was certainly a more industrial looking room. Curious eyes scanned the room, lingering on each clock for a bit longer- frowning slightly as she did register that none of them seemed to be working. How peculiar.
But, this was the Elite Four, and each Master would certainly have their quirks. Maybe dim-lit rooms and broken clocks were his.
After she had finished figuring out the layout of the place- knowing where to go and what it held might make battling a bit easier, though most likely it wouldn’t make a difference- her eyes settled on the Master himself.
At his confidence- which was rightfully placed, truly, he was part of the Elite- she couldn’t help but let out a pleased giggle, her own hands falling to her hips as she listened, shifting her weight from foot to foot.
As soon as he finished speaking, she didn’t even have time to respond before his Steelix was in the arena. What a pretty one, too! But, after that thorough explanation, she shouldn’t keep him waiting.
"Crystal clear!"
Taking her first Pokéball, she pitched it into the arena, the red light releasing the Pokemon.
Soleil | lvl 110
Giving a nod of respect to the Pokemon and Master before her, she spoke again.
"It’s nice to meet you, Muircheartaigh! My name’s Nepeta Leijon, and I’ve been training my team since I started my journey, 2 months ago! I look forward to the match!”
Soleil let out a stream of smoke from his nose, and stomped on the ground once.

The steel room wasn't as dark as the main chamber, but its master still prefered dim lighting and simple black furniture as its decoration, along with several clocks lining all four walls, none of them working.
What a bizarre person.
The arena was paved with steel - made to cause discomfort to any Fairy types crossing the path. Steel beams and blocks littered the ground in precise, geometrical shapes, and the light was still dim over the battlefield.
The trainer himself now stood on the other side of the room, leaving the space that would be their arena between himself and the challenger.
It wasn't a young man, but not exactly old either. He wore a hat and a full black suit, and an eyepatch covered on of his eyes while a long, pretty proeminent scar ran all the way down his face.
He cackled at Nepeta's voice.
"You picked me first, huh? You got some balls, making that call, I am probably the toughest of this bunch of softies. Let's see if you won't regret your decision, heh?"
He took his first Pokeball out, holding it up in his hand.
"The name's Muircheartaigh, and I've been training Steel types since I was a wee lad. All Elite Four battles will have 6 rounds, 6vs6, with no switches. The moment a Pokemon falls, the other is declared the winner of the round and the both of us pick another to keep fighting.
If there's a draw, the Pokemon still standing will fight again.
Finally, if you manage to win here, I'll heal your team before you go beat up another one of these chumps. But if you black out at any point in the Elite Four, you'll have to start all over. Is this clear?"
With a coarse, fast movement he threw the first Pokéball at the center of the arena,
Steelix | lvl 100
It was true- the entire time that she had resided in the building, waiting for the right feeling in order for her to take on the Elite Four, it had felt just as if she was in one of the larger cities that she’d been to on her journey. Although, it was more awe inspiring than any of the others that had come before.
A few minutes ago, she had signed up for her very own chance to challenge them all- and she only had to wait a little longer before she could. Lounging in the same chair that had become her home for the past few weeks, she waited, just a tad nervous, for the porter to tell her that everything was ready.
And then everything was ready. The porter called out for her, and it was with held breath that she entered the room. She heard the porter wish her good luck, and then a definitive click as the doors locked behind her. A loud exhale was the only other noise that she heard, and that was her own.
Now… Which way to go first? Standing there alone in the middle of the room, which suddenly felt all too large for just her to be there, she had to make a choice and go with it. Swallowing her nerves, she glanced at each doorway, and took her first steps towards the newest and first to come challenge.
The pure black sash- the steel type Elite room- was what she chose, her eyes adjusting to the change from the darkness of the room before. Once again, she felt smaller than usual- but she was going to challenge at least one of them today. Here’s hoping that it went well.
"Hello? I’m Nepeta Leijon, I’m here for my first challenge!"

As a strong impact attack hitting the little bat head on, it dealt a lot of damage to Noibat, causing it to faint right away. This made Yaldabaoth give off a small annoyed sound, as if he knew he was not to expect anything else from anyone with last name Leijon.
He called it back, murmuring words of comfort to the Pokéball before sending out the next one,
Bagon | lvl 11
Meulin smiled. Even though Imare was on his last leg, the gym leader only had 2 pokemon left. “Lets get going with Headbutt!”

The Elite Four building is known by many as the pinnacle of Pokemon training experience. Skaia surely went all out when its construction was pleaded by the people: the whole building feels like a city itself.
A gigantic mall is tied together with the Pokecenter, where the largest common room in the region is available to all those who wish to sit down and relax, meet fellow trainers facing the same challenge, sitting at the cosy couches with their feet swaying to and forth from the excitement of it all - and the anxiousness as well.
The battle arenas are only up ahead, and the trainer signs up with the porter before they are taken to the central room.
It looks like something taken somewhere between a fairy tale or a video game.
It's a dark room, with four doorways ahead, glowing pale against the black background, each with some sort of sash wrapped around it.
The first doorway is decorated with a plain white sash - the trainer inside is known to have mastered the Ground type.
The second holds a black sash inbued with what appears to be plenty neon green miniscule stars - leading to the Dark type master.
The sash around the third doorway is plain like the first, however dots and lines are scribbled on it at random - the Bug master waits beyond it.
The last doorway is decorated with a pure black sash - where the Steel type master is.
Calling for the trainer supposed to challenge the league today, the porter brings them to this first choice.

Yaldabaoth gave a small gruff chuckle at the mention of pleasurable journeying and one significant other. He tipped his hat to Nepeta, "Well, this old man cannot speak a single word against you or your judgment, for you truly realized the many possibilities within a Pokemon journey and seem to be greatly enjoying them. I am frankly glad."
The sparkle coming off the trainer's set of badges got caught on the leader's eyes, and if it weren't completely uncharacteristic of him, one might even believe a glimpse of a proud tear had been shed.
But who knows?
Still, with the atmosphere charged at the prospect of one epic battle, Yaldabaoth knew exactly what he had to do. He walked away simply to retrieve his briefcase from his office, returning with six Pokeballs in hand, weathered by time, experience, the elements, and probably the very nature of the Dragon types nestled inside.
A few of them had been fashioned from Apricorn. All of them were carefully decorated, some engraved or carved, others painted.
"I don't plan on holding back, as I am positive you aren't either, both your newfound skills and your annoyingly peppy attitude."
He picked the first Pokeball. He tossed it at the center of the arena, only to reveal a fully grown Goodra.
"This will be a 6vs6 battle, consisting of six rounds. There won't be any switches during this battle. A round ends when a Pokemon faints, and both trainers must call for a new partner after that. Do you agreee with these terms?"
Yet another giggle escaped her at his expression, and she waited patiently for him to speak again. Well, she did get through the entire league very quickly. So he had every right to be surprised to see her this soon!
She eagerly nodded in response to his question.
"Mhmm! I might have finished sooner, but I journeyed with my girlfriend and took breaks on holidays to celebrate with her! But- yeah, I’m done!"
Fumbling with it for a moment, she loosened her scarf enough to reveal eight badges attached to it, each one shining as brightly as her smile.
"See? Pretty neat, right?"
As the old gym leader was busy walking in circles, Jojo thumped his tail once more, reminding Nepeta of his presence. Holding out his pokeball, she called him back so that the real battle could get on its way.
Readjusting the team aqua bandanna, she placed the pokeball back onto her belt, she turned to face him once more.
"Alright!! Don’t hold back on me, okay?"

The massive attack, on the other hand, is enough to bring the poor little dragon down, as its name intends it to.
The gym leader recalls it with a small noncommital sound, as Imare takes recoil.
With no further ado, he sends out his next creature, who soars in midair upon its release,
Noibat | lvl 11
Meulin jumped back as the dragon pounced onto her Litleo. If Imare takes a few more hit like these he’s done for. She thought. “We’re almost done Imare! Lets go back to Take Down!”

Another little effective move. The level difference however is enough to hit the small dragon with significant damage, and Deino falters from the bite.
Yaldabaoth gives a short encouraging sentence before barking the next order, "Go for a Bite yourself!"
Meulin smiled widely.
"That was great Imare! We’re half way there." He was hit by the recoil of his last move, so he only had a little HP left. "Let’s use Fire Fang!”

The man looked at the trainer flabbergasted, his gaze not breaking as he slid it to the gigantic creature following her close by. Was that once the tiny Crocodile that once destroyed his whole team?
He must be.
Oh dear Arceus, she was right. The time they've agreed upon was now, and Yaldabaoth is rather amazed that it took this little time. This kid showed large amounts of promise after all, and if he remembered correctly, this meant she was merely a step away from making it a reality.
"Goodness me. Are you truly here for the rematch? Have you actually beaten the league challenge this fast?"
He approached her, cane tapping the floor along with his steps, and as he walked around her to study her, he was sure the time for underestimating her was long past.
"I suppose I shall have to challenge you beyond the restriction of this institution. I shall challenge you with my own, personal team."
She noticed him stiffen in shock, and she let out another laugh. As he whipped around, presumably to yell at her, the expression on his face couldn’t have been more perfect.
And neither could his response, really.
"Smallish feline menace? Believe it or not, that’s the furst time I’ve been called that. But the decimation thing isn’t too far off, you know!"
Nepeta strode into the gym, her gator following close behind her, ducking through the doorway that he had been carried through the last time he was here. They grow up so fast.
"Well, I won’t tell anyone. Don’t want to ruin your whole scary intimidating gym leader reputation, huh?"
She bounced from one foot to the other, tilting her head to the side. It was nice to see him again, but did he really just ask what she was doing here??? Really?
"Did you already furget what I promised you?"

Kanaya VS Yaldabaoth
The Old Bad Dragon man does it again.

Two sudden noised reached Yaldabaoth's ears as he so dilligently practice his well rehearsed theatrics: the giggle and a loud smack. The older man almost jumped out of his skin, less from being started and more from the embarrassment of being caught in such a situation.
And the moment he turned to face and yap at the intruder, he was met with a very familiar face - in all honesty, the LAST face he wanted to see him like this.
Fitting.
The gym leader was puzzled to find her here. How long has it been since her battle? Was she back because something went wrong with her journey? The thought made him oddly sad.
He blurted out, "Confound it all! What are you doing here again?? The smallish feline menace who decimated me! You shall not speak of what you've seen here to any soul!"
Nepeta had been itching for this rematch, and so it was with a bounce in her step that she entered the gym, trusty Jojo plodding alongside her just as he had the first time they challenged the gym.
The lobby was empty, or at least the intern that had let her in last time was gone for now. But the doors were open, so she wasn’t concerned. She wandered for a little bit, just kind of. Reminiscing. Even though it wasn’t that long ago at all, this was her first gym battle. She adjusted the Aqua bandanna that Matt had given her, tightening it around her wrist once more.
She had planned to wait and see if Yaldabaoth showed up, but when she heard the tapping of the cane, she grinned. Looks like he was there already.
Standing in the doorway to the arena, she watched him for a few moments- haha, what a nerd. And here she thought that the grumpy intimidating look had come naturally to him. Well, everything takes practice.
She couldn’t help but let out a giggle though. With a thump of his tail, Jojo alerted her that he was not pleased that he couldn’t see what she found so funny.

The force of the attack hits the poor little dragon with full force, landing a critical hit. It attempts to balance itself, trying to muster enough energy for another round, but it's done for.
Imare will be hit with recoil, but Yaldabaoth must call Gible back to send the next Pokemon.
Deino | lvl 11
Meulin smiled, this dragon was a much lower level than Imare was. Even though Imare was at less than half his HP she was sure that he could beat him. “We can take him Imare! Use Take Down!”
