nico learning how to braid hair because of his sisters is so personal to me. him combing bianca's hair and making messy, loose braids out of them before they go to bed; him and bianca pushing up stools to their mother's vanity and playing with her pins and pomade until they'd mussed up their own hair - maria comes home to gel-sticky hands and pins scattered on the floor, and she smiles through a meek scolding and draws them a bath.

fast forward and nico's with hazel. she's flipping through a magazine and seeing all the new hairstyles, trying to do them herself, but she never really did her hair back in the '20s - she'd kept it tucked under headbands and tried her best to make it flat, (even though it naturally sprung up in curls) anything to make her less noticeable. so nico offers to do it for her, but as she settles under him, he realizes how different her hair is from bianca's - it's more tangled, has more volume, different texture, tighter curls. so of course his first attempt is bad, and he and hazel burst into laughter at the finished product. it's not great.

still, he learns. he asks aphrodite girls what the best products are for black hair, dusts off the ole infirmary computer and braves the internet looking for tutorials, and practices braiding tighter braids with string. it's so much harder doing it on hazel - her hair gets caught when he's beginning box-braids, sometimes the strands are uneven and the braids bulge in certain spots, and sometimes he'll forget to put coconut oil before he begins braiding. he has to start over and over and over - and nearly gives up, too, but when he does eventually succeed and hand hazel the mirror and she beams for the first time, the ache in his fingers is worth it.

- NICO IS SO DEPRESSED AND IRON DEFICIENT THAT HE COULD LITERALLY SLEEP FOR DAYS ON END AND STILL WAKE UP TIRED

- WILL PUMPS HIMSELF FULL OF CAFFEINE AND GOES DAYS WITHOUT SLEEPING BECAUSE HIS SAVIOR COMPLEX CAUSES HIM TO FEEL GUILTY WHENEVER HE LEAVES THE INFIRMARY FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE HOURS

- NICO GETS WILL TO SLEEP AND WILL GETS NICO TO WAKE UP AND GO OUTSIDE

his students trying really hard to figure out their strange lit teacher that keeps making them read these old books and has a weird grudge against anything from ancient greece

they somehow figure out he's from the 30s

banned books week being a whole ass celebration in the solangelo house

nico spreads his love of banned books to his students and accidentally starts a movement

I want y’all to imagine Nico, after the battle of manhattan, all alone, roaming around and being homeless pretty much. He probably did some stuff to stay alive/ did some stupid stuff cause he was a) young and alone and innocent and b) IN THE WRONG CENTURY

Imagine like Nico revealing the shit he’s done to like the seven (plus Will but I feel like Will would already know)

Nico: yeah so like I learned the “don’t take candy from strangers” the hard way

Percy; what the fuck does that mean

Nico: um so after the battle of manhattan went down and I left, things have changed in society that I didn’t know about. And the fact that I was in a whole different continent didn’t help either. So uh in the 1930s, it was all talk about how the future was going to be great and how everyone’s problems will be solved

Percy: yeah?

Nico: right so uh I’m walking down the New York, being my little depressed self-

Jason: *trying not to laugh*

Nico: -and this guy walks up to me and he said “you look like your having a tough times” and pulls out this baggy with like a pill inside, and says “here this should take all your sorrows away, for a just a few hours and if you need more you just have to find me”

Annabeth: you didn’t-

Nico: looking back at this I should’ve known, but then again how would I have known? No one taught me this shit. And he phrased it like this really cool invention and in my head I’m like oh wow times really has changed

Will: babe you are a idiot and I’m surprised you even still alive

Nico, laughing: me too actually- I should not have lived past a lot of stuff but anyway I took it and thanked him and ummmmm one minute I was in the streets of New York and the next I was in the back of a cop car in Jersey with a headache.

Jason: YOU GOT ARRESTED?

Nico: yup. But legally I don’t exist and I still don’t cause I managed to run away before they could get my DNA or smth idk the process and then went back to New York and tried to find the guy again

Percy: why would you try and find him?

Nico: so I could get more? But either I just have a horrible sense of direction or he vanished cause I couldn’t find him anymore

Jason: the city’s confusing streets saved you from an addiction

Nico: no actually-

Percy, still trying to wrap his head around this: wait so no one warned you about taking drugs?

Nico: I didn’t even know what they were, well that’s kind of a lie I knew that they existed but I didn’t know what they looked like?

Percy: and the baggy didn’t seem suspicious?

Nico: it was a free sample

Percy: I- I don’t even know what to say

Nico: to be fair they treated the common cold with like cocaine back in my day so-

Percy: dude- *turns to Will* you don’t seemed surprised by this

Will, shrugging: wait til you hear about the “friend” he made

Nico, clapping his hands together: that’s a story for another time, hopefully never

Will: you really don’t-

Vega has been in camp since she was 10. She hadn’t been claimed until the second titan war and she’s great controlling the mist. Her weapons are a pair of deerhorn knives that transform into bracelets, a gift from Artemis after completing a quest for her

hecate’s cabin headcanon

cabin’s song: i put a spell on you - nina simone

cabin 20 belongs to the children of the goddess of magic and witchcraft

and her children are SO powerful it’s actually scary

they are more respected than some children of the big three, which means they are under a lot of pressure

people expect them to be great

and to be honest they’re definitely great, they’re just scared of their full potential 😕

hecate’s kids are always looking for knowledge, not only in books but also asking other demigods, expecting they’ll learn something new from them

they are really close to their siblings, cabin 20 feels like a big magical family 🧙‍♀️

everyone thinks they are all serious and quiet but they’re actually really playful, especially with mortals. chiron is always wishing that no one ask for hecate’s kids to go on a mission, because they’re always playing with the mist

they look tired most of the time, it doesn’t matter how long they rested

they are all really kind and are always taking care of people, even if they don’t tell anyone they’re doing that

like, every night a group of children of hecate checks if the camp is safe, making sure the magical borders and the golden fleece are there

all of them are into jewelry and have a big collection of accessories

friends with cabins 6, 13 and 15, the girls in cabin 20 also have a good relationship with the hunters of artemis

strong intuition

they’re mostly introverted but open up easily to people they like

their mother talks to them in their dreams really often

they’ve been responsible since they were kids

all of them have a weird habit of staring at the moon and/or fire like it was alive🤷‍♀️

the satyrs loves children of hecate and always treat them really well. they used to believe that the secret behind the disappearance of Pan was hidden inside cabin 20 (Hecate is Pan’s mother)

they’re kinda funny too, not the funniest of all chb but they manage to make people laugh sometimes

usually look like they’re crazy

and they usually ARE crazy, but a “cute” kind of crazy, i don’t really know how to explain it

am i the only one who believes they make perfumes in cabin 20?

hecate’s children are the only ones who are not targets of cabin 11’s pranks, because once a daughter of hecate turned the stolls brothers into diet coke cans and gave it to mr. d (luckily he noticed the cans were weird and turned travis and connor back to normal😭)
