To be fair, it’s probably not as small a crowd as you might think. I think Silver is pretty loved nowadays, I mean there’s certainly lots of people pushing for him to make a comeback so I wouldn’t lose hope.

Okay? That doesn’t change the fact that Sonic X was supervised by all of Sonic’s original creators. Like I said, that’s not a matter of opinion, that’s just what happened. And I also never said it was the be all and end all. Don’t put words in my mouth. You don’t have to agree, I don’t have a problem with people disagreeing. You’re the one who took the time to comment, I just answer questions.

It's been about 2 weeks since my last sketch dump.

I think if I'm going to continue with angsty regeneration stuff I might want to start putting tags so sensitive people know to avoid. But for now I'm not sure my sketches are good enough for that?

What character do YOU think had the most potential but SEGA didn’t try to push them?

Oooh that’s a fun question!

I mean it’s gotta be Silver, right? Like it HAS to be. He’s got a cool design, an interesting backstory, cool powers. He was even set up as the third member of a trio with Sonic and Shadow, each of them representing the past present and future like come on that’s so cool!

You could do a million things with Silver in both story and gameplay.

It’s such a shame what they turned him into. He used to have such a bite to him, now he acts like a golden retriever with psychic powers. My boy deserves better.

You ever think that it’s 4KIDS fault the way how people saw Amy in Sonic X, especially with 4KIDS’ reputation of god awful dubbing and unnecessary censorship?

No because I disagree. Sonic X Amy is peak in both English and Japanese. I genuinely think people just don’t get it. I think people don’t understand that it’s fine to just not like a character. The character shouldn’t need to be changed to appease people that never liked them to begin with. If people don’t like Amy, that’s okay there’s plenty of other Sonic characters to attach to.

You say that in your “Nobody Understands” videos, you look at all the versions of the characters in an objective way to see where they went wrong.

It’s just incredibly convenient that best versions of the characters are all the ones that you like and the worst ones are all the ones you dislike.

Totally no bias here folks. This guy is an absolute paragon of objectivity and not a stuck up fanboy who can’t move on from his rose-tinted lenses view of the past.

First of all, rude. And like I said, I acknowledge multiple times that I could be wrong. It’s not my fault that Sonic has been incredibly inconsistent in the west and incredibly consistent in Japan. That’s not a matter of opinion, that’s just how it is. You can disagree if you want, but my points are backed up by decades of established characterisation. I gas up games from the late 2000s because that was the era where the synergy between Sega of America and Sega of Japan was at its best. I don’t doubt that I have a bias, but my points DO have evidence to support them.

I bring up Sonic X a lot for instance because it was heavily supervised by all of Sonic’s original creators, that’s not my opinion, that’s objectively true and we should take it into consideration when discussing how the characters are portrayed.

But saying this is a waste of time since you’ve already shut down any potential for discussion by being a petty child about it. If you’re going to engage in a discussion, then you should actually engage. I’m always down to discuss the things I like.

I feel like such an old man because i genuinely have no idea what it is and I refuse to learn. I know it’s like a dumb gmod thing that somehow took off. All I can hope is that Valve step in and do something about it because that would be very funny.

What are your thoughts on Sega now restricting and removing Sonic related questions on Bumblekast? For me, I'm glad Sega's finally doing it. It's also confusing that they didn't start sooner.

Yeah I'm pretty happy about that. At some point I think the BumbleKast did more harm than good and it makes perfect sense for SEGA to step in. Ian isn't just some writer anymore, he's directly involved in the writing for the games whether we like it or not. So he's gotta be careful about what he says. I get he has his opinions and that's fine, but he's also got a job to do so you know.
