Annabelle passed away today. My best friend and markus’ bestfriend and sister. I don’t know how i will be for the next few days, first heart surgery, then now I lose my Belly girl. This story is special, and one we had to share because it shows the true nature of a Pit Bull and how wonderful and loyal they are. One of our followers, Debbi, shared her story of her special bond with her pibble and service dog, Annabelle. Please read what she has to say, and of course, enjoy the photos! My old service dog Leela retired in November 2013, so i was on the lookout for another rescued dog at local shelters. it was February 2014, I saw this picture of Annabelle, her name was Madrid, on Facebook and I had to go and meet her, she had this gorgeous "smile" on her face and her eyes were enchanting. That day I went with a friend to meet her and I could not believe what a sweet girl she was and she knew basic commands. I fell in love with her right then and there. I brought her home and my husband said let's name her Annabelle. I took her to the vet right away and found out she had a mass cell tumor, her first month with us she had surgery and it was completely removed and she is cancer free. i introduced her to my job and started training her to take over for Leela. Annabelle is a mobility service dog, I have RA and Lupus, i also have a pacemaker difibilator, so i run out of breath easily or need support walking, getting up, picking things up and Annabelle did wonderfully, she is in training of course everyday, because with these diseases i never know what else i might need. Unfortunately Leela passed away in April 2014 but Annabelle learned a lot from her and has taken over everything, she is with me 24/7, she goes to doctors offices with me, grocery shopping, the mall and work. I only work part time now because of my diseases and if it wasn't for Annabelle i wouldn't be able to do that either. She is a Blue Nose Pittie, about 2-3 yrs young, my other half, i could not do things without her. She is a fully trained, well behaved service dog. Everywhere she goes people fall in love with her. We meet new people all the time and I always like to tell Annabelle's story because people judge this breed wrongly. She is so loving and loyal, she will not leave my side.
