FINALLY FINISHED THIS DRAWING

the first drawing is based off of this idea had that G1 oppy lives in the matrix and her job is to make it easier for the newly dead sparks to transition to being reincarnated from all different universes. Sometimes her friends leave her parts of themselves so she isn't alone (hence skybound bee's helm and prowl's shuriken) its bittersweet cause she has to see them leave all over again but she knows she is giving them some peace.

Are matrix-bearers incapable of carrying? Or are they entitled to duties as a prime?

Could be good grounds for drift and rodimus and relationship angst for optimus.

Most of the time I see that people headcanon the Matrix as being kind of an anti-carrying device, like it suppresses the bearer’s ability to create sparklings, but I actually see it the opposite way. Think about it: the Matrix is a conduit for the power of Primus, the literal creator god, as well as being directly connected to the Well of All Sparks, a source of Cybertronian life.

So you’re holding something that’s literally tied to creation itself. It just makes sense that it would amplify the bearer’s potential to create life, not suppress it. Matrix bearers would actually have to be more careful, their connection to the Well means they’re more likely to spark a new life accidentally.

About D-16's backstory as a pit fighter..

well apparently that was one of his betas anyway during production. Still, i think you could still fit it in somehow into the movie without really changing his personality. he wouldnt be a bloody reigning champion like megatronus, though. he'd be good enough that he has skill (which would help very much in the future cough) but considering the iacon society shown they wouldnt be a deathmatch. deaths do happen, but usually away from optics and accidental. well, the cogged ones are. they had a choice to enter, truly an entertainment for them participant & viewer. but the cogless? "We're mining bots who can't transform. We can't fly, we can't roll…" and seeing as there definitely some medical discrimination... the pit fights would probably be more like 'wanting to reenact the war days' kinda type. bots curious on how would the mightiness of the High Guards and Primes would've look. the fights are either a play fight between bots or a strange bot-made monster, based on the stories.

while the cogged can choose which & maybe even who to fight, the cogless dont. meant for filler rounds or even a opening to show off the new monster. because they know how much rigged it is, to the point tnat cogless v cogged is such a rare thing. if they get severely damaged but functional, well ship them off to whatever else job they can do. its not a deathmatch, not meant to be too bloody, they were more sophisticated than that! but well, when you've lived in a mundanity of an orderly life and bureaucracy bs.. the cogless lives dangerous lifes that is tiring but has a built community, having their own bar in the barracks and all. we could assume the cogged would have a maccadam, but theres definitely a tier system. some are noble-likes partying with tables of energon, some are celebrity races (and fighters) while others are like bland office workers.

plus by having the pitfights, it can definitely split the castes even further. have the cogged dehumanise the cogless more, we can see how disastrous it can be for sentinel if they all teamed up for one cause after all.

cough anyways back to Dee. the time in the pits would learn him one thing: that a cogless truly have no power. it doesnt matter if you manange to best the beast; the medics wouldnt treat you back to full health (unless someone sponsor which is very rare for a cogless) and you just wasted your energy for the next fight. so often did a cogless thriumphed over a monster only to fall in the next round from exhaustion and unrecovered injuries. the energon they're granted is pitiful and the same amongst all, regardless how well they do. theyre not essential like the miners and waste management after all. only sponsors would help them and theyre also competing with coggeds for that. or worse, they expect additional services... this would expand his admiration for megatronus prime. the mightiest prime, whoes fallen foes are often the ones replicated for the pits. dee could sees the man-made ones that are already so horrorfying and knowing that the prime faced a greater version. perhaps he also take inspiration from the stories too, able to live through his rounds with the monsters by following megatronus prime's actions. because yeah while hes often coined on his strength, i'd like to this his stories tend to actually feature his ingenuity. something dee would catch on, too.

this is also where dee subservientness to the system would take. why he would not protest for himself, because he truly was at the mercy of higher ups. if he fights back, the medics would be even less willing to give him the little treatment they actually do. he cant do too much in the rounds, cant seek glory if by the end of the day he'll just be left to suffer and die with a whimper in the dark. he'll make a good enough show, if hes lucky get the eye of a sponsor (however way) and just do enough. [to add bcs i forgot: if dee DID went up against a cogged, and still won, then yeah he'd be like tfp megatronus, as a character anyways. it would definitely make him a spectacle, but dangerous to a certain set of optics..]

eventually, energon was in increasing need, so sentinel cut down the number of cogless in the pits. reassigning most into mining, processing or waste management; whatever he deemed was more important. dee still being of good & strong form is of course sent to mining and well-

meeting pax, actually being rewarded for being top of his job - is it no wonder he would cling to it so strongly? that this was the best thing that happened to him (granted by sentinel's own hands even!). he can collect megatronus prime's merch and even has his own space small as it was. the miners wouldnt care what he did to his hab, in fact they join in and he actually has a community.

the pits was a cold and lonely place. the death rate of cogless so high that most dont bother trying to socialise with the others. theres the competition too, and many fight hard on the grounds when theyre up vs each other, just so they can get a sponsor. sure the mines are hardly safe; but all the more importance of camaraderie. its not just him & pax (though they definitely take it a step further), everyone watches out for the other. sure theres still watching their own hide, but its pointless to be always be up against each other when you both end up doing 3 shifts in the volatile mines. being able to work together is important, if anyone wants to survive another day in there.

surely; this was the best a cogless could get? deserve?

and when he finds out the truth? that not only the blood and sweat of his fellow miners was needless but the pits was entirely pointless? at least the energon was important, but the pits was a system specially made by Sentinel's own servos. the cruelty of it, the rigged and disadvantages of cogless... "Hey, look, I know it's all a big joke to you, but not me! I was paying my dues." also gives a second look to the quote. while yeah canon its just that dee worked hard, 6 shining tiered and all. but with the context of pits? perhaps hes trying to make amends, repent for all the other cogless fighter's suffering & death that he caused (indirectly/accidentally) or simply stood by and. watched. at least with mining energon, hes doing good. hes doing what must be done. maybe, he could be more, but this what he needs to be. for energon, for Sentinel, for his fellow cogless and miners. the only blood he could spill as a miner is his own.

I've been working on the g1 Megpax fanfic again and I wanted to draw this scene from an upcoming chapter. Cliffjumper lives up to his namesake and made a dive into one of the shipping containers in the storage yard Orion works at. Thankfully, Megatron got him out rather effortlessly.
