this is kinda stupid of me to ask but how do you do gradient texts?
Hello!
[Disclaimer: To make gradient text, you have to turn off the beta option on tumblr posts] UPDATE: The beta option can no longer be turned off (presumably because they, well, rolled out whatever features were previously there in the beta). However, you can go to Settings → Dashboard → Type of dashboard (it'll be a dropdown close to the bottom) → HTML.
To make a gradient text, you basically have to convert whatever gradient you have into HTML code. [css code doesn’t work] Fortunately though, there are sites for that! You can use this site and/or this site. Here’s how they both work:
Method 1 - Patorjk’s Text Color Fader
Step 1: Enter your desired text, your colors [you can change the number of colors too; just click on the dropdown option]
Tumblr media
[Fade Type: I just use the default fade type, but I reckon the vertical one’s good if you want to create gradient paragraphs]
Now once you’ve clicked the “Generate Color Faded Text” button, you’ll see something like this:
Tumblr media
Copy all of that and paste it into this site like so:
Tumblr media
Click “Replace Text” and copy it to the clipboard, and you’re done!
Method 2 - JSFiddle
This one’s not as “user-friendly” as the former, but it’s still pretty easy to manoeuvre around once you get the hang of it!
Tumblr media
[When you’re done customizing, click on the “Run” button on the top left.]
Now you should see that the colors in those boxes in the run area are now your desired colors. Enter the text in the top text box as shown and click the run button next to the color boxes. Your HTML code should appear in the second text box. Copy that and you’re done!
[I’d only edit the main code if I want to add one/more colors. Otherwise you can just click the boxes in the run area and edit the colours directly from there. This supports hex codes, RGB and HSL.]
For example, I’ve done this:
Tumblr media
Okay, now once you’ve copied your HTML code, you have to go back to tumblr and create a new post without the beta format. You should see a gear icon; click that and change the post type to HTML. [tip: customize a blank piece of text however you want (bold, italic etc.) in the Rich Text editor and then just replace that with your gradient text code in the HTML editor]
Now paste your HTML code in the text area, and you should see something like this:
[note: I just clicked on the gear icon to demonstrate what it should look like]
Tumblr media
You can preview your text by clicking on the “preview” button to see if you got anything wrong/to see what the final result will look like, and you can add your desired tags.
And that’s really all there is to it! Here’s what my final result will look like:
Viridian: #009698 to #008b8b to #007474
[Forgot to mention, once you've got your gradient text, you can't switch back to the Rich Text editor without losing your gradient, which is why I recommend customising your text in the Rich Text Editor before switching to HTML and replacing the black text with your gradient one! Personally, I just use the header option for my text so I put the h2 tags manually at the start and end of the code so as not to create a hassle]

How to use coloured text on desktop: tumblr’s worst update
cool fuckin rainbow text tutorial or whatever
ok tumblr decided to make this a feature for some reason and ppl seem to use it fine on ios but im a primarily desktop bitch so heres how to do this shit on desktop the convoluted and stupid way.
when u go to make a new post, click on the cogwheel and change the text editor from rich text to HTML like this:
Tumblr media
so far there are 7 different colours u can use: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Pink
the span tag for the colours are in this box here:
<span class="npf_color_joey">this is red</span> <span class="npf_color_monica">this is orange</span> <span class="npf_color_phoebe">this is yellow</span> <span class="npf_color_ross">this is green</span> <span class="npf_color_rachel">this is blue</span> <span class="npf_color_chandler">this is purple</span> <span class="npf_color_niles">this is pink</span>
copy the tag for the colour you want, paste it into your HTML editor, and add your text in between the angle brackets where it says “this is (text colour)”
since this is HTML, you might want to write your post first and then change the text editor to HTML. otherwise, you will have to format your post in HTML, like this:
Tumblr media
when posted, it looks like this:
Tumblr media
<p></p> indicates a paragraph, <br> is a line break. otherwise, your text will be in one big chunk.
if you need any help formatting, feel free to drop me an ask

my divider tutorial
he everyone! I’ve been seeing a lot of people asking about how to make text dividers + banners on my feed, thought I would just do a quick tutorial on how I make my stuff!
link to banner tutorial here.
For context - I don’t have photoshop, and I pretty much had zero experience in anything graphic/web design when I first started making these for my blog. I’ll be using free programs that are all accessible through a web browser, so there is no need for you to download any kind of software to do this!
Dividers: Photopea
photopea is free to use and it has a browser mode so you don’t need to download it to be able to use/edit photos! The only downside is that it won’t save projects after you close your tab. So you’ll need to make sure to download png/jpgs of anything you make in photopea onto your computer (which you’d need to do anyways to insert the banners into a tumblr post) before closing the tab.
1) go to photopea (photopea.com)
Tumblr media
2) click File > New
Tumblr media
3) Create a new project - for my dividers I usually use 520 px (horizontal) by 5 px (vertical). I also usually title my dividers, so if I need to reuse them (for a series/multiple creations) I can find them in my downloads/writing folder.
Tumblr media
4) Pick you color
You should now see a white bar in your workspace. Click on the color picker tool. It’s the icon with two overlapping squares near the bottom of the tool bar on the left side of your screen
Tumblr media
I usually just try to choose a color that matches the banner/aesthetic of my banner for the series/writing piece. Click “OK” when you’re happy with the color.
Tumblr media
If you want to directly sample a color from a banner, you can use the sample/inkdrop tool in photopea. You can do this by opening your banner image in photopea (I’m using one of my banners as an example).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can click on any part of your banner using the inkdrop tool (it automatically records it in the color picker tool) to sample that color, then switch back to your divider tab.
6) Fill your divider - go to the Edit Menu (upper left corner) > Fill
Tumblr media
Then fill your divider (I usually use 100% opacity and don’t really mess with the settings)
Tumblr media
7) IMPORTANT: DOWNLOAD YOUR DIVIDER AS AN IMAGE (JPG recommended)
This is really important! Since photopea’s free version DOES NOT SAVE projects, make sure to download anything you’ve finished before closing the tab. I recommend downloading in JPG format, as tumblr now resizes png images/messes up the look on desktop for PNGs.
Tumblr media
8) Add the banner to you post!
I usually use the photo post option when using banners (Banner goes in the photo album part of the post, and the caption is my writing)
Tumblr media
You can add the banner by clicking the camera button in the draft editor (press enter to create an empty line and you should be able to see it)
Tumblr media
And then you’ll have the pretty line/text divider!
Tumblr media
Hope this helps if anyone needs it - if you need help with banners, I made a quick tutorial about using Canva + where to find images to use for banners!

Hmm... thinking about when the team has been split up for an extended period of time for whatever reason, and when they get back together, they're all vaguely aware of where most of them were in that time/what they were up to. Except one, no one knows with them. And they're being a bit cagey about it maybe, and sometimes the rest of the team sees them flinch at quick movements, or caught them having nightmares or avoiding sleeping at all... and slowly, they begin to piece together that the character's been hurt. One of their own has been hurt, and they weren't there to help, or stop it, or look after them.
