Here’s what is coming to Pier 4: The two largest insurance companies in China are new investors in the Pier 4 development on the South Boston Waterfront, companies said yesterday, becoming the latest foreign investors in Boston real estate. But there’s more.
The China Life and Ping An, insurance giants in China, are joining New York real estate company Tishman Speyer as co-investors in the Pier 4 development, the companies said. The real estate companies plan to build a 13-story, 373,000-square-foot office building and a nine-story luxury condo building on Pier 4, next to the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Again, we’re going to provide as much information about Pier 4 and the Pier 4 Development as we can Google.

Pier 4 In Boston Will Be “Worthy Of One Of The World’s Great Cities” says Rob Speyer
In August, Tishman Speyer unveiled renderings of its new mixed-use project in Boston’s Seaport District, Pier 4, which co CEO The Rob Speyer said he hopes will be the “brightest jewel” in the city’s waterfront. That’s Pier 4 Boston Seaport.
Here’s another quote:
“Our goal at Pier 4 is to create the brightest jewel of the Boston waterfront,” Speyer said. “This will be a project entirely worthy of one of the world’s great cities.”
The plans call for a nine-story, massive 100-unit condo building, which will of course incorporate 16,800 square feet of retail and restaurant space on the ground floor. The Pier 4 building is being jointly designed by SHoP Architects and CBT Architects.
Sounds pretty amazing right?
