the facts were these . . .

ned is 28 & his birthday is november 2nd!

ned has a dog named digby! he’s a red golden retriever & he’s been ned’s best friend since he got him. unfortunately ned developed a dog allergy in his early twenties. instead of giving digby up, however, ned decided to keep him. he takes allergy meds to cope.

he’s rigged together a “petting device” which is a wooden hand with movable fingers attached to a pulley system in the handle that he uses to pet digby.

ned lost his mom when he was 9, she keeled over after putting him to bed one night.

ned’s father sent him off to boarding school with the promise that he’d be back for him. that was 19 years ago. ned hasn’t seen him since.

he may have some abandonment issues as a result, who’s to say really?

he was in love once, when he was 9, with the neighbor girl across the street, chuck. they were practically inseparable. she was his first kiss. he still thinks about her sometimes.

seeking a change in pace from the small town of coeur d’coeurs, ned set out for the city! he hadn’t anticipated the influx of customers (bigger city = more people who want freshly baked pie!) and he’s severely understaffed, with only him baking pies & olive serving them.

ned hates halloween. when he was younger, away at boarding school, he snuck out one halloween night to go trick or treating, clad in a sheet with eyeholes cut out. and as luck would have it, he happened to bump into his dad. his dad, who happened to also be out trick or treating. with a wife and two sons ned had never seen before.

it shouldn’t still bother him, it happened 18 or so years ago, and yet ned can’t help but feel bitter when he thinks of it. a hint nauseas when he sees paper jack o lanterns adorning walls and doors. halloween and ned just don’t get along anymore and he’s made peace with that.

all of his recipes are based on his mother’s recipes! he adds his own touches, of course, makes the recipes His, but. they started out as pages from his mom’s cookbook.

ned has issues with being touched by most people. he wasn’t exposed to much physical affection growing up, especially not after his mom died. and as touch starved as he is at his core, being touched - especially intimately - activates his fight or flight.

ned is a big fella, coming in at 6’5”, but everything about the way he carries himself would have you believe he’d rather go unnoticed. shoulders hunched, arms close to his sides, hands stuffed in his pockets, nearly folding in on himself. ned’s a shy, gentle fellow who doesn’t really enjoy being the center of attention.

ned is very passionate about pie. “pie is home. people always come home.” he takes pride in his work & he’s Good at what he does. ned’s pies are baked with love, as corny as that may sound. “food tastes better when you make it with love.” thanks, ned.

one of his regulars used to be a private detective by the name of emerson cod. one night, mr. cod had been going over case notes and ned happened to overhear. ( the pie hole is small and the customers are scarce after a certain hour. ) which is how ned the piemaker found himself wrapped up in the private detective’s business, splitting earnings on cases he helped solve.

his favorite color is green. he finds it calming. “green’s the color of grass on a bright summer’s day. green’s warm and inviting. you look at green and your heart lights up like a thousand tiny lightning bugs in a heart-shaped mason jar.” thanks ned,,

ned loves flowers. yellow daisies are his favorite, they remind him of his childhood. “the good times. before all the- trauma.” ned pl ease,

he stress bakes. sometimes it’s half a dozen of his Comfort Flavors, pies he could literally bake in his sleep, and sometimes it’s experimental flavors. but it’s always an Incredible Amount Of Pie. he often gives those pies to his friends, free of charge.

ned is a vegetarian!

he wanted to be a jedi when he was growing up and studied lightsaber battles, enough to reenact them should the need arise.

ned is not very good at lying when he’s pressed to do so in the moment. he’s awkward at best and fumbles over his words.

he doesn’t like Change or Surprises. he likes things to go according to plan.

ned is the master of the :O face in real life, not even joking. it’s very cute.

it doesn’t come up much bc he’s not like. actively searching for a partner but ned is bi!
