Mushroom Microcosms ~ Vol 1. 🌌 Laccaria Amethystina 🌌
The beautiful Laccaria Amethystina with it's mystic hues is commonly known as the "Amethyst Deceiver" Mushroom. 🔮✨
With this tiny beauty only being the height of a thumb, I had to get on my hands and knees to capture pictures of it at those angles, but I dare say it was absolutely worth it. Although many people shun it due to high arsenic levels, it is known as a delicious edible mushroom here in Europe. (Wikipedia!) I prefer it as a subject to my camera lens, rather than in my witches' stew though and I wouldn't personally know them to be safe for consumption. 😂
In folk medicine and spiritual practice the essence of Laccaria Amethystina is believed to have a number of effects on mind and body here. It is thought to release blockades of both mental and physical nature and to accelerate the transformation of processes be it illness, menopause, stagnant emotions or problems, with the result of freeing the user from it. Whether or not this works and is safely practicable is beyond my judgement. I can only speak a word of warning of not consuming any mushrooms you don't know and to consult a local expert if you want more information on their edibility. I found these in a small forest part of a parking space off the highway in my homeland in Middle-Europe, on one of my trips to a hospital appointment in late August/early September this year. I haven't been in the right mind or had the energy to share these since. Originally I had saved them to share on a special occasion. But they do look like they come straight out of wonderland, especially if you take pictures from below, where you can see the sun shine through the delicate lamella. Seing the purple hues turn to shades of pink, red and even orange definitely put me in awe!
I hope looking at these brings you as much joy as they did to me! More magical mushroom photos are to come soon!
