Evangeline sat quietly at the table, picking at the eggs she had made herself for breakfast. The sun peeked in through the curtains into the lodge, casting a pattern of light that swayed just slightly across the table she was sitting at. It was another day, and they were no closer to finding a solution for her...ailment. The fire lurking under her skin remained, ever threatening to usurp her control of her own body. Liath had been silent-but only for so long. Soon she'd whisper again, odd ramblings or sharp orders, arcane mutterings, anything to nettle the rava, pick away at her sanity until there was nothing left. Eva sighed, resting her face on her hand and staring at her eggs now, no longer really planning to eat them. She wondered if Pidgeon would be back soon-she had been foraging for a bit longer than usual.

Now there was something more pleasant to think about. Pidgeon, who calmed the firestorm of the voidsent in Evangeline's veins. Pidgeon, who was brave, kind, and compassionate, while also being carefree and wild. Evangeline hadn't dared to dream of a future for the longest time..years had gone by with her mired in hopelessness, tethered to the past and unsure if she even deserved a future. Pidgeon made her feel like she just might be able to believe in one, though. A future with love in it-maybe one without fighting, where she wouldn't have to pick up her axe ever again. She allowed herself, for just a moment, to picture a little cottage just for the two of them. A lovely little place where they could plant a garden, and Pidgeon could wander the forest without fear of corrupt Wailers, or monsters, and Evangeline could take up smithing again. Perhaps even a place where the two of them could raise some kits. The rava couldn't help but picture a gaggle of adorable little toddlers chasing after her girlfriend, floppy little ears trailing behind them. Eva let herself smile for just a moment-because if she wanted that future, she would have to fight for it.
