Going to start the #100daysofpractice challenge tomorrow, for both piano and voice. I’ll post periodically to remain accountable and to reflect on how it’s going! Might start following the tag for inspiration.

Haydn - Two Baryton Trios - La Jolla Music Society SummerFest 2014
I finally remembered to go and actually listen to a baryton! Haydn wrote a significant amount of music featuring the Baryton, as his employer, Prince Nikolai played one, and requested continuous new music for it. Now it’s all but extinct and I never hear it mentioned out of this one context.

Man I love learning history because sometimes you learn things that’s not widely known just like how Beethoven’s Fur Elise was actually made for one of his students that he was in love with named Therese. She was a mediocre piano player so he made a melody so easy that even she could play it and impress people (hence the very iconic tune in the beginning) but then he finds out that she was engaged to a different man and so Beethoven basically made the other parts so that she can never play it and if that’s not petty culture then idk what is.

Getting home at 10:30 pm after 2.5 hour rehearsals, with dress rehearsal tonight and then three evening performances in a row means:
- 1,000 mg of vitamin c a day - twice daily oil of oregano - zinc tablets whenever I can - so much water
(I still think I might be getting sick. I have hit peak voice student).
Edited to add - gonna throw in some gargling with salt water.
