Can't wait to dig into the Google Pixel XL which is replacing my Note. Let's see what you got under the hood. #googlepixel #pixel

Just visited the RED Store Hollywood. I can confirm that the Epic-W 8K S35 or this tree from Eterna has devoured grandpa. He is no more. Which is moderately poetic if you consider the short film. #R3D

Much of my career as a cinematographer has been based on a somewhat clear and focused vision of where I can just make out the horizon enough to race towards it at 1,000 miles per hour in a hell bent determined fashion only to trust myself deeply once reaching the edge to either jump and discover where the new path and the next horizon leads or to stay sturdy and change course towards a different destination that is unknown. Today I got to take a look over the ledge and clearly see a nice 360 degree panorama with a few directions to go. Sort of a choose your own adventure thing with a bit of foggy crystal balling. It's a nice view all around, but a direction must be chosen and my compass seems to be guiding me to some wonderfully strange places while keeping the bigger picture in focus. Enjoying this crazy ride wherever it may go. #xenolux #R3D

Pretty massive update to PHFX | tools. All tools now support RED's new Weapon 8K S35 and Epic-W cameras featuring the Helium sensor tech. This is important as there are subtle differences between a few formats when comparing them to Dragon and a couple new supported aspect ratios in there to boot. More things coming this week too. Big thanks to the sponsors and users who have supported these efforts. #R3D

Oddly matte painting has somehow prepared me for dealing with updating my charts. New stuff incoming this week. #R3D

For those of you that know about my rock thing or those that don't, I keep a rock from every place and location I've been to and put them into jars for pretty much my whole life. I usually find time to hunt a special one down at some point along the way. At the last location from this aerial shoot my rock simply came to me in a glass frozen in a block of ice. This made me damn happy. #R3D

RED Dragon 8K VV and Heluim 8K S35 are pretty large sensors and format sizes. Thats something to be explored for everybody taking these steps into the brave new world of 8K. Something that's harder to explain is the visual differences between larger format digital cinema cameras and smaller formats. This goes beyond crop factors. For those who have read the ASC Manual and are familiar with standard panning speeds some of that is eluded to. However the larger surface area draws and drags your subject matter in a slightly different way across the frame. Focal lengths and FOV are of course different and are part of this. It's an intangible tangible because you certainly can feel it and see it. Especially on the big screen. It has a depth to it. There's also this whole 8K resolution thing happening too. 8K for 8K, 8K for 4K delivery has been my focus (as well as sub resolutions) and it's insane what can be acheived during capture and the final produced image. I'm looking forward to seeing what everybody will do. Treat it with sincerity, attention, and care. The quality visuals will come from there. #R3D

Visited Duclos Lenses today and finally from prototype to final finish on the production version for the Zeiss Otus Primes there's now a Cine-Mod Pro with consistent sized fronts for motion picture use with metal gears and scales. Tremendous and I've been loving these on my RED Weapon 8K VV. Need to add the Milvus 15mm and 18mm to the trio of 28, 55, and 85mm Otus set. Then likely the 135mm. #R3D

Being open minded towards modern and bleeding edge technology has allowed me to progress throughout the motion picture industry. In a sea of "Noes" being a "Yes" makes you stand out. Especially if you can deliver. #R3D

Haven't been able to Inktober as of yet due to filming on the road. However I left about 60 realfastdoodles in a few countries. Now that I'm wrapped I'm wondering if two a day is a possibility to catch up or if that would just be annoying as gnat in the ear. Either way I'm gonna start popping a few off. #inktober

It's good to be back in LA. I seemed forgot how loud it was here, but there's always a few things that drown out the noise. #R3D

I've ran into a few REDusers at the airports this trip, but this one was easy to spot! Love when this happens.

Whelp. Delayed flight and now being redirected through London for a heartbeat. Miss that place. Here's a clock from the last time.
