Okay, I know a lot of us are jumping on the "Steel is invariably evil" train. I'm not there yet.

Mainly because I think it would be tragic and beautiful and heartbreaking if, for example, Soft and Stone didn't take Steel on their last-ditch attempt to uproot the Citadel's knife in the heart of the world, but they did give her contingency information and when the Archmages caught and executed them after seeing the strength of their convictions, Steel rushed to try to save them. She was too late and in her shock and grief, all the Archmages turned their power to warp her memory and implant the idea that Eiogharain was definitely the architect of her best friends' demises. Then in a twisted unfairness, they sent Steel to retrieve and raise Suvi as the "princess of the Citadel" and shackle her to the most ancient Archmage Silence, to ensure if needed she would be kept *silent*.

I wonder what would happen if Steel turned Identify on herself as Sky did. I wonder how she would feel if Modify Memory were removed from her and she realized she had perpetuated that violence on her daughter, on her best friend's daughter.

For example, this weeks episode was Speak With Animals and the obvious assumption is that Eursulon or Ame used the speak with animals spell to solve some problem the crew was facing.
