You know you've fucked up when you go to a doctor and the thing you have wrong with you has been named after an occupation that isn't a thing anymore. Like imagine a doctor looking at you and going "yeah you've got ox-drawn ploughman's disease. We don't even test for that anymore. Yeah the reason you've never heard of it is because the last known case was in 1927 and happened to some guy who was like 98 years old and didn't believe in modern medicine of the time. What the fuck have you been up to."

my only advice is to BE CAREFUL posting about holiday traditions around europeans. you'll post something casual like "anyone else watch the old Grinch movie every year? what a classic" and a european will appear as if summoned and say some shit like "funny how USAmericans always CONVENIENTLY forget that Not Everyone On Earth is from The USA…….. no of COURSE we dont watch 'the grunch' or whatever the fuck that is…. our tradition is to attend a community showing of Glummdorf the Racial Stereotype"

society overemphasize external motivation, inborn talent, natural smarts, god-given creativity, etc. and neglects the fact that self discipline trumps all of these in the long run. it's best to have self discipline AND one of these other strengths, but even alone, the persistence of self disclipline will always win out. the short term boost of natural aptitude means absolutely nothing when you hit the wall and get too discouraged to hurdle it

have you done it? have you finally collected all the identity labels to describe the entirety of your self? im sure that you must understand your place in this world perfectly to have figured that out, you must have mastered relating to and interacting with others, you must have worldly wisdom and experience beyond your years now.
oh wait you just navel-gazed while feeding yourself an endless stream of shortform videos? and you've crippled your ability to relate to others outside the identity obsessed framework you've built up in your head? yeah actually that makes more sense.

Alphabet Prayer by Constantine of Preslav. The first poetic text written in Old Bulgarian, it is part of the The Didactic Gospel - one of the best known works to be created in the Preslav Literary School during the Golden Age of Bulgarian culture.
The Alphabet Prayer in modern Bulgarian:
Translation by Thomas Butler:
With this prayer I pray to God:
O God of all creation - Founder
Of the visible and invisible,
Send the Lord Living Spirit
To inspire in my heart a word
Which will be of benefit to all
Who live within Thy commandments.
For Thy lamp is the very lamp of life
And a light for the paths of the one
Who seeks the gospel word
And begs to receive Thy gifts.
For now the Slavic race is hurrying, too -
Everyone has converted to Christianity
Wanting to be called Thy people.
They heartily implore Thy mercy, God!
But give me now Thy expansive word
O Father, Son, and Most Holy Spirit
As I beseech Thee for help.
For I raise my hands to Thee always
To receive strenth from Thee and wisdom
For Thou givest strength to the worthy,
Healest every being.
Deliver me from the Pharaoh's malice
Grant me cherubic thought and intellect
O venerable, Most Holy Trinity.
Transform my sadness into joy
So I may begin to write with wisdom
Thy most marvelous wonders.
having received the strength of the Sixwinged
I walk now in their name and deed.
I shall make public the word of the Gospel
Giving praise to the Trinity in the Godhead
Which every generation sings -
Young and old - with their understanding.
A new tongue, giving praise always
To the Father, Son, and Most Holy Spirit:
To Whom be the honor and power and glory
From all creation and from all that breathes
Unto the Ages of Ages, Amen.

FOOD HUBRIS BY COUNTRY america: believes their shitty local burger chain is a once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience because their mayo includes onion paste canada: if your poutine tastes better than the styrofoam plate it comes on you will discover the cold rage that lies under the canadian's polite exterior united kingdom: despite thriving and unique fusion cuisines spreading from the UK to the rest of the world in recent decades, when asked to think of 'british food' the average UK citizen will start a fight over whether cold beans with a modest side of white bread is haute cuisine france: McDo Ortolan Bunting italy: extremely mad about american versions of italian food. blissfully ignorant of what happens in brazil brazil: if the scientific genius applied to making cronenbergian pizzas were applied to anything else, brazilians would all be commuting to jobs on the moon. They have pizza that can feel pain russia: obviously mayonnaise is the perfect topping for all foodstuffs, this is solved. The question is what to put on top of mayonnaise, and it might never be answered germany: less a joke than a fact: the single most produced numbered Volkswagen part is a standardized currywurst
