i think maybe we’re lonely for most of our lives. and i used to think that was just how things were but now i think it might be how they’re meant to be, and i don’t mean that as a bad thing. because sometimes loneliness feels like a crushing weight on your chest while you’re crying in the shower, but sometimes it feels like magic and mystery and a secret between you and the universe, and I think both of those are natural and maybe even good. so maybe the secret is not that you have to try to never be lonely again, but that you have to learn to be lonely in the good ways.

Did you know there are still footprints on the moon?
There’s no wind, no weather, and so probably they’ll be up there for a long time. Longer than I’ll live, or you’ll live, or maybe longer than all of us.
Humanity erased, except for these footprints on the moon.
I wish those were my footprints on the moon; my fear of outer space is overpowered by the fear of you forgetting me too soon.

“Only the confidence that you’re done with work until the next day can convince your brain to downshift to the level where it can begin to recharge for the next day to follow. Put another way, trying to squeeze a little more work out of your evenings might reduce your effectiveness the next day enough that you end up getting less done than if you had instead respected a shutdown.”
