I know I couldn't handle having kids but if I was left in charge of some, I'd take them to the park to feed ducks. Not bread though, you shouldn't feed that to ducks. We're feeding them lettuce. Let the ducks going apeshit over lettuce show the kids that lettuce is actually awesome. When they go home, their parents are baffled by the fact that the kids are now willingly eating salad. I like how dogs - at least the smart ones - seem to have some capacity of understanding that there are differences between people in what they are and are capable of doing, and allowed to do. And an uncanny ability to nonverbally negotiate about what they want you to do. We're sleeping over at my boyfriend's family's place for the time being due to them having AC and we don't, and I woke up this morning some time just past 7 am, and the younger one of the dogs came to greet me with a waggy tail and Morning Stretches like

"Hiiii :3 you're awake. Could you perhaps let us outside to go morning pee? Oh, you're not allowed to do that? Well, would you maybe like to wake up my Home People? I'm not allowed to do that :3 so you could perhaps maybe do that for me? :33 Oh you're not allowed to do that either? Well fuck me then I guess. Useless fuck."

I came across your "Would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?" AI post, and as someone in computer science who is SO sick of people constantly being like "Use AI for this! Use AI for that! Hey why aren't you using AI for all of your work??" Because they think AI is a magic do-it-all doohickey and not a specific technology with its own limitations, do I have your permission to please repost this to LinkedIn? Totally understand if not, I just think the pigeon thing is a good way of getting people to understand pattern recognition vs. "Thinking"

One of my ficus cuttings that survived being planted only has one leaf. Sticking right out of the dirt. I know that it has to be alive because the leaf has been green and healthy for months instead of drying up and crumbling like a loose leaf would, but that's all that the plant is. Just that one leaf. No trunk no stem no nothing, no attempt nor intention to grow a second leaf. Like I'm impressed that you've managed to do that but girl what are you doing with your life.

The Tapestry: The Red Winter Book Review (by Henry H. Neff)

How to sum up a book filled with such calamity, tragedy, and sacrifice?

To start, this book easily portrays how people can choose to be a force for good, or a force for evil. Everyone has the ability to be one or the other, but it is by our own actions that we become who we are.

This book series has always fascinated me. The complexity of the magical world with Celtic, Egyptian, Christian, and more magic and rituals combined into one magical practice. I love how the antagonist isn't only a super-powered human or mystic, he is something else entirely. A demon. Which is far more terrifying.

The Red Winter, the fifth and final book in the series, shows how bad things can happen in life and there are real consequences to them. And even if you have the power, you can't just turn back time and erase it.

Endings, though sad, will come.

This was a beautifully written conclusion the The Tapestry series. One of the few final books in a series that imbue a sense of contentment in the reader. I'll shout to anyone who'll listen about how amazing this series is. There's nothing like it. It's truly in a league of its own.
