Hi there,
It seems like there are some more people coming around here as of late, so I thought I would say hello, and thanks for looking me up. Iāve always liked this platform and have posted on occasion, even after it felt like a ghost town after 2014 or so.Ā
Just a quick note on how I approach this page - this is all of my work - and I post new and old pictures Iāve made - usually as a single image, but sometimes two at once. Most are what would be considered āstraightā photographs, but some are digital collages, aberrations, etc. Itās usually pretty easy to tell.Ā
I sometimes go back and delete things I donāt like anymore. I re-post pictures I might have posted before, because I forget. I donāt usually explain the work here - beyond sometimes posting the filename, which shows the date the image was made on. But most of the work does indeed have an explanation.Ā
Most of my time these days is focused on being as good a dad as I can manage to be to my two year old, so the posts are certainly more archive at this point. As some background, I spent 2009-2016 working in Chicago doing freelance assignments and personal projects. I spent 2016-2021 in Durham, NC doing a few assignments, but also studying art, teaching and making projects. Lots of my work is from those places. Now I am in Michigan making art whenever I get a chance, which isnāt too often right now, but thatās okay.Ā
Like a lot of photographic work, most of my projects tend to deal with place - and if not a specific place then certainly a feeling of a sort of place.Ā Most work goes into a specific project to my mind, but itās often ongoing, or unfinished. My website is a fairly deep archive of these complete and incomplete ideas, so if you are curious, please stop by peterghoffman.comĀ
I also write a little bit about photography on occasion. I may eventually post some of that here, but for now, if you want to see it please sign up at sia.peterghoffman.comĀ
Thanks again - a follow can seem like casual and inconsequential thing on the internet, but I am truly grateful for any person who wants to spend a second looking at something I spent time on.
