Familliars
Familiars are beings made from magic that are essentially a representation of a soul. Not everyone has one however, since it requires a deep connection to the inner self. To put it bluntly, familliars are only for those you can accept every aspect of themselves, good or bad.
Familiars are extremely unique and often look similar to their summoner, (most likely because of the nature of souls) and some can even talk! The latter is an uncommon occurance, but still not too out of place!
Soul mates often have a shared familiar that represents both soulmates. These particular familiars are the most powerful, but also the hardest to summon. It requires both Soul mates to know and trust each other completely.
Magic is often stronger when the casters familiar is summoned. It's theorized that the familiar essentially gives a boost to the caster, particularly because of its representation of the soul.
Familiars cannot be physically harmed. While they look and feel solid, they don't actually exsist on this plane. That being said, familiars can be corrupted, dispeled, or even apprehended with magic. It is recommended to keep familiars away from people you do not know or trust, as familiars are extremely important to a witches health.

Soulmates
Remember when I said souls are important? Well, this is another example of that.
If you have a soulmate, it means that person shares part of your soul. They could quite literally be your other half in that regard. Either way, most soul mates are known to be more relaxed when together, and their magic is known to sometimes mix, or trade places in rare cases.
When soul mates meet, the first reaction is usually attraction, then a constant desire to stay with that other person. They are constantly drawn towards each other, and in many cases, end up finding each other by accident (most likely due to the souls wanting to be with their other half).
Not all soul mates end in a romantic relationship however. There are plenty of platonic soul mates out there! It all depends on the pair of soul mates in the long run.

Souls are extremely important in all my writing, but in Witch force, it’s directly connected to magic, so everything about souls I mention is extremely relevant to the story.

Magic
Magic in Witch force is pretty simple. Everyone has a specific magic based on their personality, or more specifically, soul. Multiple people can have similar, or even the same magic, but it’s often a rare event.
Magic comes from inside the soul, and is willed outward by a “focus”, or an item that is very near and dear to the user. Examples of a focus would be a handgun, a pair of gloves, or even a pen. There hasn’t been an official limit to the size of the focus, but it has been observed to stay within the range of a large book, and a small pebble.
Using magic drains the user, and can leave them feeling exhausted if they aren’t careful. Usually, taking a rest after using a lot of magic will help keep their bodies healthy, but there have been cases where people have fell into comas from over exhausting their magic.

I like the idea of Polly having a dark spirit surrounding her for the first ark.
Ok, so like, at the beginning of the series, she's really agitated and grumpy, looks like she hasn't slept in a long time. She's let her depression get to her, and because of that, she's got a dark entity latched onto her that makes her even more agitated. She's stopped taking her medication and stuff to prevent it, cuz, what's the point?
Then Roxy comes in and they kinda fling themselves into this haphazard relationship. It takes Roxy finding out the truth for Polly to calm down and really let things sink in. She knows she's been avoiding taking care of herself, and finally has to confront the problem. So, they talk it out and get rid of the entity using swiggity after they summon him for the first time, and then they work together to work on Polly's problems.
