Holy shit. Holy fuck. Ohhhhh my God I do not have words. This work was a MASTERPIECE. The emotions, the grief, the growth, the friendships and relationships... The author could teach a masterclass. I wish I could leave a long, in-depth review, but the truth is I forgot a good amount because of how I read it (read it as translations were uploaded over what was probably at least two years). But, that said, I did not forget just how raw and realistic the characters and relationships were. It shook me to my core. I absolutely want to read again some day.

Ikoku Nikki/Foreign Country Diary by Yamashita Tomoko

Makio Kodai (35), a novelist, cannot bear to see her niece Asa (15) being passed around by relatives at the funeral of her sister and her husband, and decides to take her in on the spur of the moment. However, although she took her niece home, she came to her senses the next day and her natural shyness kicked in. Makio had forgotten how unsuitable she was to live with someone. Asa, on the other hand, is not shy and agrees to live with Maki, an "adult who is not like an adult," in an unusual but honest way. This is the story of when two polar opposite worlds awkwardly try to interact.

The art is charming, and the emotions and characters feel very realistic. I don't remember much about it, but I do remember that it dragged on. I think it's worth revisiting in the future, but for now I'm tabling it.

Again, I don't remember much, but I do remember that I was intrigued by the interpersonal relationships and I wanted to know more about their history. Also, the art style is very charming. Definitely worth picking up again some day.

I don't remember much of this. I was reading it, and then I stopped, and I haven't read it for much. Looking over the chapter I left off on, though, it seemed vaguely interesting. Might be worth going back to in the future. The art looks nice.

Very cute fluffy manga. Cute unique art style and the relationship between Nanoha and Chidori is very endearing. I think it might have dragged on in some places, but it was a refreshing story that didn't have a lot of pain or annoyance to it, so I enjoyed it. Might read again some day.

Cute collection. It's not a real anthology; it was just put together and translated by fans who enjoyed the hashtag trend. Pretty interesting overall, but very short, and a lot of the themes were repetitive, though seeing as all the artists were working independently of each other and never knew this compilation would happen, I can't blame them. Anyway, some of the art is better than others, some of it is funnier than others, some of it is better written than others, etc. The English translation was only available up to 26, but the Italian (?) translation is available higher than that, so I'm jealous, but oh well.

Not what I expected. I guess it was my fault for misunderstanding, but I thought it would be about an old man yakuza reincarnating into a young female yakuza. The story looks... interesting, I suppose, but it feels a bit more action-packed than I usually prefer. Not super interested in reading farther.

It's... fine. Frankly, I went into it with the hope that it was more trashy. That's just what I was in the mood for, y'know? Anyway, it really isn't anything special, but I stayed because it was *juuuuust* interesting enough, considering that I don't often read this genre so I'm not really burnt out on it. At some point, it starts focusing too much on cooking food than on really levelling up, though, which sucks. Also it doesn't do enough with the fact that the MC was a middle aged man in her previous life and is now a young girl. Again, it's... fine. Just fine. Relatively enjoyable, just interesting enough to keep me invested. Nothing special.

Very cute story with a charming art style! Story has some parts that are unexpectedly deep/emotional as well, which is a plus. Very enjoyable read and very cute, with a SUPER cute relationship and charming characters!! I really wish there was more to read, but it hasn't seen an update in two years... I hope it gets more someday.

Shuumei has a problem: he’s in love with Hana, a girl who works in a maid café. What Shuumei doesn’t realize is that Hana is actually Hanae, an otaku boy who’s more comfortable with people when he’s dressed as a girl! What’s more, neither of them are aware that they both go to the same school. Appearances can be deceiving in this wacky cross-dressing love comedy!

Cute story! Gets a bit repetitive, though. Also, although I get the logic in having similarities between their friend groups and outside lives, it gets a bit boring when it's like that? What I mean is, they both have younger siblings who know they're into crossplay, and they both have friends who were able to tell at a glance that it was them while they were crossplaying. I'm not asking for drama necessarily, but I would like something more. Also, I wish there were more circumstances where they interacted with each other without malice while not crossplaying. It seems Shuumei has a higher level of respect for Hanae than Hanae has for him, too. I don't know... I think that the romance between the two of them, AS the two of them, has taken a serious backburner because the series focuses so much on the crossplaying. Which makes sense, of course, since it's a major part of the series and even in the title, but it makes me wonder how things will ever get resolved. Anyway, enjoyable to read, great meme expressions, pretty cute art style, would enjoy reading more after the series puts out more.

Pretty cute. Nothing really of substance, but very sweet. I don't... know how their relationship will change once Louis (the younger, French brother) learns that Masaki (the older, Japanese brother) is the girl he's been chasing after/"dating". The series keeps making jokes about their relationship being sketchy, in a way that makes me feel like it... prooooobably won't turn into a broXbro thing, but it's kind of vague so far. There's a little girl with a crush on Louis, though, so maybe he'll far in love with her after he learns the truth? I don't know. Anyway, cute series, wouldn't mind reading more at some point.

Although not necessarily my type of story, I think the premise is interesting and the art is pretty good, especially evocative in the gory cinematic scenes. It's a shame it isn't really my type of read because it really is pretty interesting. I've been thinking about it on and off since I read it yesterday, so it's capable of lingering in my mind even though I read such a small part of it. CONTAINS GORE, BLOOD, VISCERA.

Repetitive story with a cute, nostalgic art style. Enjoyable, if a bit boring. Very repetitive. I'll repeat it a third time because it's true: it's repetitive. But, still, it's cute. The way Yamada started to fall for Kosuda so quickly was cute.

Very funny story. I find myself rooting for Kitazono and Anan and hoping one day they'll get together, since they seem to genuinely like each other for more than just sexual reasons. I'd like to read more, but I want there to be a lot more to read (since I'm currently caught up with translations, it seems, as this seems to be a new series) before I pick it back up again.

It's... fine. I thought it was relatively interesting at first when it seemed like the big brother was going to have to work really hard to help his little brother, but then it started doing the stuff you see in certain stories nowadays where he suddenly "levels up" and gains new skills immediately (though the story didn't call it that or treat it like that). Immediately, his life became too easy to become interesting. Honestly, I could've dropped it a few chapters earlier, but I wanted to see if it would get any better. Anyway, it kind of reminds me of that one story with the dragon daughter levelling up her dad. The one thing that this story might have going for it is that the site I was reading it on had a Yaoi tag on it. Assuming that's correct and the big brother is gay, I suspect, despite the misleading title, that his love interest would be the best friend that is trying to help him out. If this story didn't have the weird levelling up thing then I might have enjoyed reading it, even despite how his life got too easy too fast, purely for the romantic development. But, as it stands, it really just isn't worth reading more.
