We live in societies that have core systemic issues (e.g. white supremacy). With those core systemic issues come symptoms of varying severities (lack of representation in x y z sector of white supremacist capitalism). You do not treat the symptoms to fix the problem (integrate into x y z sector of white supremacist capitalism). The problem is still there.

The Gladiator movie wouldn't have been less of a Hollywood capitalist cash grab if the Palestinian-Egyptian actress hadn't been removed from it. Her exclusion from it was - as a symptom - indicative of a larger ongoing Hollywood zionist propaganda and censorship trend by zionism and american imperialism - the core systemic issues.

I'm using this as an example but it literally applies to quite literally everything in our societies and I don't have the energy to get into the specifics of many other such cases. Buying from Palestinian authors, businesses, etc... is not going to stop the Nakba. I'm not saying don't do it, but don't mistakenly believe that partaking in consumer capitalism is going to help Palestinian liberation in any way. You can't buy your way through to liberation. Palestinians don't aspire to be consumed by Westerners.

The less palatable and consumable Arabs and Palestinians are to the Western eye and the American mind, the better. And I've already explained this and stated this - this is the reason the Palestinian liberation movement cannot be co-opted. Because we are not looking to be integrated into Western capitalism we are looking to overthrow it and destroy the boot it's holding on our necks. The success of our movement, our muqawameh, lives and dies in the hands of that muqawameh, that armed resistance.

In line with what MLK Jr. said, I don't want to fucking integrate into a burning house. My aspirations for liberation are not in line with American capitalist goals - they are contrary to them. You need to understand this in your core conceptualization of third world liberation.

I do think that US communists should be doing more to engage in mutual aid—just not in the ad hoc disorganized way anarchists suggest. Food banks and meals programs are rather prevalent in US cities, yet also incredibly disorganized and pressed for resources. They are functionally a part of the capitalist system right now, where a portion of the surplus food that would go to waste is distributed to the working poor by means of depoliticized organizations often disconnected from the communities they serve.

Imo, communists could greatly strengthen our connection to the masses by developing a systematized and politicized network of mutual aid, not in place of mass work but as a bridge between the organization’s political work and the lower strata of the working class.
