You can tell a lot about the health of a civilization by their warning signs. Places with a lot of dumb folks will have very broad, very dumb warnings in public. "No feeding the birds." "Stop swimming in this drainage pond." That kind of thing.
Advanced civilizations have very precise signs. They've covered the bases of their regular, run-of-the-mill idiots, and now they're working hard to cover that other end of the bell curve: the talented idiot. When I was in Germany last time, there was a big warning sign that consisted of a 76-letter-long word that means "stop bothering this particular goose, Sven." I don't know who Sven was, but the goose looked pretty calm. It worked.
Now, I have a secret to tell you. You can just make your own signs. There's no law against it, except perhaps "littering," and the municipal sign factory doesn't have very good security. If you show up there past close and put in the door code that you shoulder-surfed off one of the employees returning from lunch a week prior, you have all night to fuck around with their sign-printing machine, making the most official-looking placards you can think of.
Is this wrong? I don't think so. It's a public space, and being able to put up an aluminum sign that says wacky crank shit is your right. For instance, just last week, I banned pickup trucks from parking by the playground. The cops figured out something was going on, because they didn't get any calls for toddlers getting backed over for a couple of days and sent a patrol truck to investigate. Took my sign right down.
What I discovered after that is that nobody keeps records of what signs are supposed to be there. Why would anyone put up a sign for no reason? They cost money, after all. The city is now suing the shit out of that officer for stealing the "no trucks" sign, thanks to an anonymous tipster who called in the theft. Guy wearing a reflective vest came by and put like four more of them up after the lawsuit made the news, just out of spite. I'm not entirely sure if he's actually a city worker; we ran into each other at 3am at the sign factory and just grunted. He was working on some really crazy signs about not feeding a particular swan. Probably German.

make sure to use a tool to scrape these off — some of them might have razor blades or other bullshit behind them.
make nazis miserable 2k25!
To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.
My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!

no offense but you guys need to learn the difference between someone implying their experience is universal and a post simply just not being about you

The thing about Elon Musk is that he's just such a fucking loser. Look at him. He has the flesh of a thousand maggots stuffed into a corpse. His complexion is like 13lbs of cottage cheese shoved into a bin liner. Nothing he says makes any fucking sense in this universe, the next, the one after that, nor the next successive infinities. He moves with all the grace and elegance of a Cybertruck being catapulted into a wall. He looks like he smells of morning breath and mouldy bread. Visually, he's almost indistinguishable from boiled tripe, and mentally, there's no almost. Ignorance is bliss, and he's on cloud nine. He has all the money in the world, and he can't buy himself a single atom of street cred. He looks like he's always ten seconds from giving himself a titty twister. He looks like the nebulous form of a half-remembered ghoul. He's fallen over the precipice of the uncanny and smacked every branch of the unfathomable on the way down. Every single thing he does, every word he says, every gesture he makes, is an attempt to overcompensate for the fact that he looks like he should be a 12 year old boy in a cartoon called Timmy The Supremely Bullyable. He is a truly pitiable specimen. His vibes aren't rancid so much as they're non-existent. He's a black hole of charisma. A void of talent and gravitas. And he knows it. He knows all of it. But he can't do a damn thing about it, and so we all have to fucking deal with it. Boils my piss.

average cis conception of gender is roughly equivalent to "every single liquid is either type O+ blood or cold-pressed peanut oil." and you're like "are there not perhaps a handful of exceptions" & they get so mad they start funding nazi militias

here's a food opinion: I think salt tastes like vibrations. I specifically no longer agree that salt makes things "taste more like themselves," which is the standard description I think. it tastes like vibrational energy. if there's not enough salt it tastes like the ingredients but they're not vibrating enough. if there's too much salt it tastes like they're vibrating too much and it's uncomfortable.

Honestly one of the main reasons to assume Luigi Mangione was framed by the NYPD is that the UHC shooter not only had no reason to carry around a manifesto, he had no reason to even write a manifesto. He said his piece loud and clear with the bullet casings and the monopoly money. Everyone understood it and the shooter knew that would be the case.

I'll be the first to insist that a critical step in becoming good at media analysis is to overcome the impulse to see everything as a reference to that one specific piece of media that lives rent-free in your head, but I admit that any time I encounter a set of conspicuously colour-coded funny little symbols, I find myself unconsciously counting to check whether there are twelve of them.

knew this woman who used to be a gay man and when he was a gay man he liked ‘ironically’ referring to himself as she/her and so when he came out as a woman he decided the next logical step was to also switch his pronouns to he/him.
