A Supermarket Incident
This happened yesterday when I went to a supermarket near my house named “Haneefa”. It was almost a 15 minute walk from my house. My grandfather accompanied me since it was late in the evening, almost like 7pm. We went to buy some snacks and soup for our family. The soup stall was in front of Haneefa. I went inside the market whereas my grandfather was outside standing near the stall. I bought two chocobars, one casatta and a few noodle packets. As I was heading to the counter to pay for the items, my grandfather came inside saying that he had to buy an Oil packet (my mom phoned him to buy). I told him I would be at the counter since there was a lady there with a lot of groceries so I knew it would take some time before the cashier finished billing her stuff. The cashier was a women in her early 20s therefore I thought about asking her which college she goes to, since I just finished my schooling and my parents were searching for a good college nearby. The cashier seemed to be in a hurry (for god knows what reason) and there was some issue during the billing of the lady who was in front of me. The lady and her daughter were trying to clarify something but the cashier still in a hurry “I know... I know... Stop.. Don’t confuse me...” in a rude way. After 5 minutes the lady paid and left. I kept my items on the counter and exactly at that time, my grandfather had come. He placed the OIl packet and while the cashier was billing the items, I noticed that a cup noodle box I bought was damaged, so I told her I would take another instead of that one (it was damaged before I took it). When I returned I saw that the cashier was billing another person, so I just stood there waiting. After that person left, I told her she had already billed the cup noodle box and that I only exchanged it. But she didn’t believe me and went through our bill all over again. I noticed that the chocobars were melting since we stood there for about 15 minutes now. So I told her that I will exchange those two also. She said “NO.. No.. Ask my manager if you want to exchange..”. And snatched the two stick ice-creams from my hand. Yeah so they became even more disfigured since she grabbed them tightly. I told her that I have to walk to my house for 15 minutes and the ice cream would literally become chocolate milk by then. She said no. My grandpa was asking her why we can’t exchange it since they literally have a freezer there. But she just snatched the money from his hand when he was talking. She didn’t even bother to answer and gave the change. I MEAN THIS IS A PERSON AGED 20SIH (COMPLETE STRANGER THAT TOO) WHO SNATCHED MONEY FROM AN 86 YEAR OLD PERSON. I felt really angry but I just mumbled a thank you and came out with my grandpa before he could process what happened because god, he really has anger issues and can’t stand people who disrespect him for no reason. But I think I should have said something to the cashier because it was MY grandpa who she disrespected and I keep feeling bad about it since yesterday.
