OK, this didn’t work last time, but I am a new writeblr looking to get involved, so please reblog this if you are a writeblr!

honestly, i’m getting tired of urban fantasy where there is a hidden world. i love it when it’s just...there. you can see the ghosts playing poker in the cemetery by your house through your window. witches work at the pharmacy, smile at you with brown teeth (they are creepy—but you tell yourself they mean well) and sometimes you find strange plants in your prescription bag (wait is that a bone in there? please don’t let it be a bone again.) the elves are there. they eat all the vegetables and party at one a.m. and their vigorous and loud harp playing keeps you up through the night (are they really playing that one metal song? how is that harp not broken??) you show up to work late because of the elves, who are always there. you wished the elves weren’t always there.

writing tip #1901:
yeah sure publishing is cool and all but you can’t beat the thrill of running through town, screaming the words of your novel at the top of your lungs at everyone you see

Hello again my old friend and foe: tumblr. I am not new to the website (granted it’s been a while) but I am new to the writeblr side of it!
I am hoping to find other writers in this niche to befriend and talk about never writing. Also, advice and references are cool too! I want to use this blog to hone my skills and get help, and maybe share works.
I’m Kelsey. I’ve been writing with varying degrees of skill since I was 6. I drift towards children’s stories as a reader and a writer, but I really love ghost stories for some reason. The only things I really never pick up are romance contemporary (modern, at least?)
My favorite book is Howl’s Moving Castle, and also Holes, Coraline, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Mistborn, The Book Thief, pretty much anything Edgar Allan Poe, and a bunch of others. When it comes to movies/shows, I love Over The Garden Wall and Gravity Falls, and have also been a Star Wars fan from pretty much infancy. So maybe that gives a good idea of what stories I like!
Reblog this post if you are a writeblr and post
- writing advice
- reference
- original writing or fic
- funny writer stuff
- prompts
The few things I would rather avoid are explicit works, whether through extreme violence or adult content. Just not my jam. Thanks y’all!
EDIT: I would like to add the first sentences of a few projects of mine!
Project #1: September arrived with a promise of oddity.
Project #2: If you checked the worldwide list of endangered species on any official website for wildlife conservation groups, dragons would be at the top of the list.
Project #3: While most thirteen-year-old girls dreamed of their future wedding, Morgan had every second of her funeral planned to the minute.
