i think “slop” is still a perfectly apt shorthand for “corporate-mandated content qua content” or “bloodless skinner box feedback response bait” but it very quickly spread the worst possible corners of the internet and now it’s just overtaken “mid” as shorthand for “something i don’t like” in place of any actual criticism or effort to express oneself. so it has, in itself, become criticslop
