LOVE ABDUCTED There’s more aliens in the universe than love interests for you on Earth, astrophysicist claims
He told The Sun: "Given the universe is probably infinite (for practical purposes), there are probably more alien worlds in the universe than love partners here on Earth.
"Although then you have to consider the aliens loving each other. So maybe love does win in the end."
However, Wooding thinks our chances of making contact with this alien life are relatively low at the moment.
He explained: "Aliens should be out there somewhere though, given that we now find nearly every star has at least one planet.
"The main issue I think is that we currently rely on the technology of the alien civilization being compatible with ours, which we might be overestimating.
"Our sensors are now getting to the point where we can detect what is in the atmosphere of exoplanets, so that might be another way to detect life at least.

How big is the map in Dying Light 2 Stay Human – Dying Light 2 Map Size
One killed, multiple people injured in storms in West Alabama Bryson DeChambeau withdraws from Saudi International prior to…
Techland has talked a lot about the size of Dying Light 2 Stay Human since it was revealed. They have even gone as far as to say that the game should take people over 500 hours of game time to 100% complete it. With that kind of time investment, you would think that Villedor is a massive city. So how big is the map in Dying Light 2 Stay Human?
Dying Light 2 Stay Human’s map may not be as big as you might have guessed, but it is still much bigger than the first game’s world. According to the developers, it is somewhere between six and seven square kilometers or a couple of square miles. Looking at it from the in-game map may make it feel smaller, but traversing the city and dealing with the verticality of the Central Loop makes it feel much bigger.

U.S. Refining Output At Stake As Union Prepares To Strike
A trade union representing refinery workers and oil refining companies are both preparing for a strike in case wage negotiations that have been going on for a few days end with industrial action.
According to a Reuters report, the United Steelworkers union is currently holding talks with workers to decide on a new contract that would cover people working not only in refineries but also chemical plants and pipelines. The discussions follow the USW's rejection of a contract proposed by Marathon Petroleum, the lead negotiator for the industry.
The rejected contract had stipulations for a 9-percent wage rise over a period of three years, Reuters reported, citing unnamed sources. According to the same sources, both sides are preparing for industrial action, with refiners training replacement workers in case the strike goes ahead.

Amazon helps stocks steady but prospects for rate hikes loom over markets
Asian equity markets fought for a footing on Friday, supported by an Amazon-led bounce in U.S futures, but oil's rise to a seven-year high kept traders on edge over prospects that interest rates will rise to curb global inflationary pressures.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan ticked up 0.4 percent, led by a 1.5 percent rise for the Hang Seng index in its first day of trading after this week's Lunar New Year holidays. Japan's Nikkei fell 0.4 percent.
Overnight the euro posted its sharpest jump in more than a year after European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde left the door open to rate hikes this year and said inflation was running hotter for longer than expected.
The Bank of England raised rates to 0.5 percent and nearly half its policymakers wanted a bigger increase. The S&P 500 had its worst day in nearly a year.
The Standard Channel
"We're seeing the environment is really changing in terms of central bank stances, which were previously so camped in growth-supportive territory, but now are shifting rapidly to fighting inflation," said Rob Carnell, chief economist at ING in Singapore.

Shell hands billions back to investors as soaring energy bills lift profits
Shell today defended handing multi-billion dollar payouts to investors after 2021’s blistering rise in natural gas and oil prices helped propel annual profits to a seven-year high.
The energy giant announced a 4% increase in quarterly dividends to 25 cents (18p) per share and the expansion of its share buyback programme to $8.5 billion (£6. 3billion) after full-year adjusted earnings soared four-fold from £3.5 billion in 2020 to £14. 2 billion.
The recovery sharpened in the fourth quarter, when earnings came in above City forecasts at £8.2 billion compared to a £3 billion loss a year earlier.
CEO Ben van Beurden accepted his company had benefited from “tightness in the market” as millions of UK families face a 54% hike in energy bills.

Dying Light 2 - Review
Popping out for a bite to eat took on a brand-new meaning with 2015’s Dying Light, and now again with its bigger, darker, and even more dystopian sequel. Light and dark plays a big part in this vampiric tale, including ray tracing editions for new-gen consoles and higher-end PCs. So, let’s sample the bits and bytes of Dying Light 2 Stay Human.
Parkouring our way through the console & PC versions, we have a collection of modes and settings to work through. The last-gen versions weren’t ready in time for coverage in this review, so we instead will concentrate on the Xbox Series X, Series S, and PS5 along with our AMD-powered PC with an RX6800 GPU. First up, let’s examine the three modes Techland’s proprietary Chrome engine (or C-engine) offers – on Series X and PS5, at least

God Of War Ending Explained
At a glance, "God of War" (2018) might seem like a fairly straightforward game about a shirtless man grunting as he swings an axe into giant monsters, but there's actually a surprisingly nuanced story buried underneath all the bravado. It builds upon the long and complicated timeline established in the original series while establishing a new beginning for Kratos after moving away from ancient Greece and starting a family. The narrative interweaves characters from both Greek and Norse mythology with several new characters of Santa Monica Studios' own creation.

Valve Steam Deck To Support AMD FSR Technology Across All Titles
Valve’s Steam Deck handheld gaming console will ship out with integrated support for AMD’s Fidelity Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling technology, based on an article published by Phoronix.
According to PC Gamer, FSR will be available for the games that support the upscaling feature but more importantly, Valve aims for the technology to be available across the board for all titles, even if they do not natively support it.
As a quick primer, AMD’s FSR renders a game at a lower resolution and then proceeds to upscale it to the set resolution of the output. By doing this, gamers are able to enjoy the game at higher framerates, compared to running it at its native resolution, albeit at some cost of in-game details.

Godfall developer Counterplay Games is hiring to make a 'co-op fantasy shooter
The creators that brought us Godfall are seemingly preparing for their next major product, and it looks to be an all-new IP. Counterplay Games was recently observed to have new hiring pages up and, if the descriptions in the positions are anything to go by, it looks like the Godfall dev is preparing to make a new “cooperative action fantasy shooter.”
The listings for new jobs and the tease of a new game were seen on the Counterplay Games website’s career pages. According to one such listing for a Producer, Counterplay has an unannounced new IP in mind: the aforementioned co-op fantasy shooter. Other listings such as Senior Writer and Animation Programmer also seem to be related to this next project. Whatever Counterplay has up its sleeves, the promise of a co-op fantasy shooter means it will likely play in major contrast to previously released title Godfall, and assures us that it’s not simply a spinoff or sequel to Counterplay’s previous release.

An artificial intelligence tool developed by Google beat thousands of seasoned programmers in a series of coding competitions.
The AlphaCode system, created by Google’s AI subsidiary DeepMind, ranked in the top 54 per cent of competitors after going up against 5,000 human software engineers.
Oriol Vinyals, a research scientist at DeepMind, said that the milestone brought Google one step closer to creating a fully-autonomous problem-solver, which is widely seen as the holy grail of AI development.
He said that being part of the AlphaCode team was a “dream come true” and that he never expected it to achieve “human average against competitors”. He said: “I have been fascinated by programming competitions my whole life. We’re excited by [AlphaCode’s] potential for helping programmers and non-programmers write

Beijing 2022: Team GB’s James Woods eyes long-awaited Winter Olympics medal in Freestyle Ski events
Woods, from Crosspool, became the first British man to win a World Championship gold on snow three years ago but his two previous Winter Olympic appearances have been near misses, a fifth in Sochi and fourth in PyeongChang.
On both occasions he was nursing a niggling injury, this time around there are no such problems, although an untimely Covid diagnosis over Christmas nearly cost him his qualification, meaning he is flying in under the radar when it comes to British medal hopes.
