Ok so like obviously thinking too hard about Roman is like hovering my hand above a stove flame but. succession was so crazy for making its most provocative sardonic driven-by-chaos most clandestinely traumatized character  the one who, out of anyone, expresses the strongest desire for love and connection . like roman has said some of the most deplorable things in the show’s runtime but yet he is the Only one who really declares his love with his actions (pastries for Kendall) and says plainly with words – PLAIN SPEAK!! WITHOUT METAPHOR OR CODED LANGUAGE – that he wants to communicate with his siblings and their feelings in a healthy way. it’s like all the tormented energy he has about sex redirects itself into a genuinely earnest need to express affection. and yet he is so impish and deplorable. it’s like he’s exhausted by his own cynicism. it’s like he is the most consistently self-aware character in the show and having that distanced perspective makes him distinctly aware of how Odd his family is, how Odd that they can’t love each other right, how Odd that it is when he’s not allowed to express love if it’s not through sex or violence. Roman Roy is an open wound whereas everyone else seals their gashes with shitty skin grafts and plaster

this season is driving me truly insane because it's just roman begging and aching to be loved and and wanted and needed but not knowing how to really get it and you can see that emptiness in every inch of his posture and in every facial expression. where is kieran culkin's emmy i mean it this time
