For me the affair between Phelps and Elsa didn't had any impact, like it got him demoted and that was it.
Yeah people would then start talking about his adultery and all but for me it feel like they throw it at your face and you just accept it.
The game basically forgets that Marie exists and bring her up just for the sake of divorce, I understand that it's probably a metaphor (?) for how Phelps doesn't really think about her but it just feels bland.
They could have foreshadow it a little more, or even showed that Marie was concerned about her husband not giving attention to her or her daughters anymore.
And also I didn't feel any chemistry between Cole and Elsa either, he was eyeing and then stalks her for two cutscenes and then she just randomly accepts him to bang her and the player is like "okay...?" Like I've seen some people didn't even realizing Phelps was married until it gets all over the newspaper and on the radio.
I'll be honest, I got the affair thing as an spoiler, but that's on me for playing a game from a decade ago, i was feeling like Marie would end up appearing on the homicide desk, but not to beg for Cole's love, it would be HER case.
Well, after drifting away from the thing I wanted to say (like did Phelps with his beloved "mother of my children"), I feel like the game just ignores Marie so the player doesn't hate Phelps even more after him cheating on her, what I'm saying is, they didn't let the player get attached to her so they don't mind it too much.
In the end Marie was just a character with so much potential that ended up as complete missed opportunity...
I'm awful at writing anything, I hope you can understand what I tried to say
The Ambassador Hotel probably would be a landmark in the game, a rough version of it is present in the game, but for some reason they give it up and closed the whole area including the Gaylord building.
In game:
Bonus:
The Hollywoodland sign is actually In 3d, since we aren't supposed to see it so close I was assuming it was just a lod transparent texture, the games instantly crashes if get too close to it
Something that I was a bit disappointed was how the npcs doesn't talk like they actually have a life
I mean, when they say something is always something about how Phelps is the cop from the newspaper or telling some silly joke, it would have been so nice to hear their complaints about their life's and some other gossips.
It would also be nice if there was some sort of CJ from GTA type of npc in the streets, that becomes violent if they see us, just so the action would extend to the free roam outside the dispatches, I don't really like online games, but an online mode just to fool around would be kinda fun too...
