Downtown Alcohol Delivery
As a small company, we thrive on the versatility we can offer our partners. That being said, not only can we deliver your food but we can deliver your alcohol. For our clients its definitely a plus, they don’t have to deal with the challenges of having two platforms to sell food and the other for alcohol. We want to share some of our current clients that sell alcohol so you can stay home and safe! Remember, by ordering through their website, over the phone, ChowNow, or Toast you are giving them a lifeline and the potential to make it out of this pandemic.
PDQ Courier is partnered with HiDef Brewery in DTLA & we deliver same day! We are stoked to work with a brewery like them, they offer pickup, local delivery & shipping options in case you are a bit further out. Here are some items from their menu.
Lil’ Buddy - Light Ale
Callback - Blonde Ale
Head Space - Pale Ale
Rewrite - Strong Pale Ale
Resonance - Rye IPA
Lit - IPA
Double IPA Dankmeister
If you want a little bit more information on what these beers might taste like just head over to their website and check out their descriptions. [ Website / Order Now ]
If you are looking for some Argentinian food with some wine or beer LALA’s DTLA is the place for you! With their spectacular range of food options, they offer some great Argentinian options or you can always opt in to some of our regular favorites.
We all have those days that we just aren’t craving the beer or the shot glass but want something a bit more sophisticated. LALA’s Argentinan grill is the place, they have some Sangria on their menu, a glass option or a full pitcher. Head over to their website and order for same day alcohol delivery. With Valentine’s day around the corner dress up and decorate your home for a nice little date night. [ Order Now ]
Pizzanista in Los Angeles is also a great choice. Who doesn’t love pizza and booze? Pizzanista consciously uses locally-grown produce and humanely-raised meats whenever possible.
We definitely need more places like these! Support them and order in or check out their website for more information. [ Website ]

How much should I tip the pizza delivery guy
The golden rule is to think of the service you’re receiving, and the leisure to stay home. Think of your delivery person as a waiter at a restaurant they typical should be receiving 15-20% of the pre-tax bill. Lets get into what your pizza delivery person or food courier journey looks like and then what their payout is.
Your couriers journey starts from the order notification then off to the restaurant, now the ideal story is they get their food immediately when they arrive but in most cases theres wait time. If you are like most people you order around the typical lunch or dinner hours so you can expect the restaurants to be slammed. Restaurants usually have their food ready in about 15-20min but during the lunch or dinner rushes that can be 25-40min wait times. Now taking it over to your front door its been 50+min since they’ve received the order.
Most courier or delivery folks are commissioned based, that means at the end of the night they receive the delivery fee of $4-6 dollars. If they did not receive any tip that meant they’ve just made $4-6 for the hour.
Best way to calculate your tip can vary depending on how one has learned how to do percentages. If you’re not that good at percentages then lets break it down and make it simple. If you order a $30 meal, whats 10% of 30? Thats simple $3, multiple by 2 or double that and that gives you $6 which now gives you 20% of 30.
Next time you can’t decide how much to tip for a delivery, think about the luxury of staying home and how much that courier will be making for that hour delivery.

LA Courier Company Supports Their Community
As couriers we spend the majority of our time out in the city, picking up and dropping off to multiple locations. We get the pleasure of finding all the gems in the city and all the quiet parks. We choose to support the smaller companies by purchasing as much as we can and avoid big chains.
Our team has compiled some of our favorite restaurants and coffee shops, we hope to shed some light on these smaller shops so everyone can support them. As Covid19 has had an impact on so many people we are saddened by some of our partners having to shut their doors, we will miss you Submerge, Bad Son Tacos, Astros Doughnuts, Bodhi Bowl, Chicas Tacos(DTLA) and Goshen Cuisine. You can help support them before more small businesses close down, simply by ordering their food but using their E-Commerce website or calling them. Doing so you're allowing them to keep as much profit as possible, now to name a few of our favorites.
Our very own, Wahn Catering with his love for cooking. Juan is very passionate about cooking and creating new flavors in the kitchen. He has had a few pop-up shops at events and coffee shops making some pretty delicious breakfast burritos and Vegan Burritos. If you’ve ever had a chance to try his food you would not regret it!
K G bakery on echo park ave has a really good vegan bahn mi
Courier 412 listed Kien Giang Bakery in Echo Park, his favorite thing to get from there is the Vegan Bahn Mi. KG Bakery has been around since 1980. They specialize in birthday, weddings, quinceaneras, and other cakes, they also have cake specialist on-site to design a unique cake for any occasion. They craft fully hand-made Banh Tet and Banh Chung, and over 40 different varieties of Mooncakes. You can place an order on their website through their online e-commerce.
Courier 221 listed Sonoratown, Urban Radish Market & Weird Beers. Starting with Sonoratown, If you’ve been in DTLA long enough you know this place is amazing. Sonoratown opened in 2016, paying homage to the small border town in Mexico that Teo one of the owners is from. They are partner with doordash which in reality is such a bummer because most restaurants feel like they have to resort to using big corporate apps but just avoid ordering on there and order over the phone for pickup! That’s one way to make sure they get the most money out of the transaction. Urban Radish Market is a family-owned market with everything from cereal to hand-cut meats to local berries; they serve farm-fresh, made to order sandwiches, salads, and grill items. They try to keep their store based out of products made in LA or California. Their kitchen is fresh, organic, and carefully curated ingredients with everything made in house. Lastly on Courier 221’s list is Weird Beers, with stay home order most people have resorted to drinking more at home with the free time they’ve had.
Americans who report drinking any alcohol in the past 30 days has increased - rising from 71% to 79% compared to the same time last year.
Weird Beers is a very small shop and if you ever had a courier bag you know you’re most likely going to hit or drop something. They carry a variety of beers and very cool people. Supporting them over a giant chain store like Ralphs definitely feels 100% better.
Courier 602 listed The Donut man at central market, and Scoops ice cream in chinatown. Donut Man has been around since 1972. Their original location is located on the historic Route 66 open 24/7 and has been that donut for many traveling through. Next spot is Scoops in chinatown, they don’t have a website just social media platforms serving the best ice cream in downtown.
Share to shed light on our favorite small restaurants.

Wall Street Money
What the apps have done, instead of competing to serve customers and restaurants, is use Wall Street money to accumulate market power, raise barriers to entry, and then merge with each other and set up regional monopolies.
The people who have invested tens of billions of dollars in the four dominant delivery apps tolerate huge short-term losses purely because they see the likelihood of monopoly power. #localdelivery #deliveryapps

Best Delivery Service for Silverlake and Echo Park
We’re now trying to grow our Silverlake and Echo park zone in hopes with restaurants finding cost cuts they might realize working with a smaller delivery is beneficial. We are super proud to provide a professional, eco-friendly and low prices for our dtla delivery partners and Silverlake Echo park delivery partners. We currently work with Blue Collar Working Dog and Jewel LA. We would love to invite other restaurants that are interested in working with us through simple Call to Call deliveries(Customers call the restaurant to pay and call us to deliver). We also encourage those who have toast, squarespace or shopify to utilize their own e-commerce website and use us since our system integrates pretty smoothly.
If ever interested, you can email us at [email protected] or call our number 213-538-8116.

PDQ Courier - Volume 1
Tumblr media
Untitled
‘Musing on Purpose’
Read on our website Sitting on a ledge at the corner of 2nd and Hill I looked west, up toward Grand. My breathe still heavy, having pedaled fixed down 2nd onto that narrow one way, barely catching the green on Hill, the danger justified by the gentle stimulus to my focus. It was the end of my first week as a courier for PDQ, and my joy was profound. It had been a week of finding new paths, new perspectives, and developing new abilities. Another beginning in my journey, and my struggle to find peace.
I checked the board for orders. Nothing. Still, 7 runs from 5-9 was great. Kept me busy. Thrilled, I admired my loyal partner. The blue Sprinter which bears all the weight. Which I care for in hopes that the favor is returned.
Tumblr media
Thus, my thoughts wandered back several years, to my Centurion. 80’s craftsmanship, given new life through a conversion. My daily commute those days was short. About 20 minutes in the morning on my way to work and another 20 heading home. For 40 minutes a day, however, my commute brought me closer to a sense of freedom. With every pedal on my Centurion I progressed. A soothing cadence. A calm sustained breathing. A meditative state.
I find spiritual freedom is inherent to pedaling on a fixed gear. Cognitive clarity follows closely. A clarity that strips away all distractions, demanding focus on the physical task at hand. Pedaling. The affinity for physical exertion.
Through this clarity, the possibility to further understand the self is provided. My discomfort was clear. Where my youthful innocence could not perceive and my teenage rebellion would not accept. Trapped in a system developed to perpetuate ignorance and consumerism. Confined by my own ignorance, perpetrating compliance as I participated in their farce.
I took one last look at the board. Still nothing. The DT lights, vibrant with life, grabbed my attention.  Our city is a true gem. It’s captivating buildings engulfing all sight, stone giants splendorous against the summer night. Paul Chambers softly started off ‘So What’ on my headphones. It had been a great evening. As I clipped onto my Engine 11, the pale odor of cannabis lingering from the warm pipe pouched at my hip, I found clarity in my thoughts.
Our world is imperfect. The vast amount of different experiences that humans share in the search for coexistence inherently brings a complexity to our lives which often becomes overwhelming. Creating a disconnect from that which truly matters before we die. And though it is unclear whether the benefits outweigh the costs as our society evolves, it is what we have been provided. With immense gratitude for those efforts, I search to find my own balance.
Tumblr media
10 o’clock. It was time to start pedaling again. To keep moving forward.

The Solution Restaurants Need
As the second wave of COVID-19 has engulfed our restaurants and dine in is questionable. Restaurants have found their new ways of operating but finding a solution to remove multiple costs can be a little frustrating.
The idea of having everything in one place for operations is always an ideal situation. What POS system allows in house operations with an online ordering tool. In the past POS system did not offer delivery service until recently but they’re forced to choose a POS system with the partnered giant delivery service. The giants have the money to market and the platform but with inconsistent delivery, unsatisfied customers and high rates is it worth it? Not at all, its easier to have more control of how things are delivered and work closely to increase presentation. A reliable delivery service that is 100% professional and consistent. Using your “own drivers” can allow you to integrate it with PDQ Courier and take control of your delivery operations.
Toast has created a platform that allows restaurants to have all the tools for in house operations and easy menu building, take out, delivery and much more on online ordering. The good thing is it integrates into PDQ’s system so their notifications on orders are in real time. PDQ’s integrates with multiple systems even outside of food.
PDQ Courier integrates with multiple platforms such as toast, big commerce, shopify, squarespace, chownow, woo commerce, wix restaurant, Revel, Grubhub, Gloriafood, Clorder, Ritual and if they’re not listed they can work on a manual setup.
PDQ Courier is versatile so it allows restaurant to use their service if they were ever missing a product to do a quick grocery delivery or quick mail drop. PDQ makes it easy as well if an item was forgotten in their order to do a redelivery which will increase customers satisfaction.
