The Flex and Rigid-Flex Printed Circuit Board
The manufacturing of the printed circuit board has touched a new high in today’s age. There are many advantages of using Flex and Rigid-Flex circuit boards instead of the traditional boards. Here is some brief information on the Flex and the Rigid-flex circuit board.
The Flex and Rigid-Flex Circuits can be the most practical solution in all areas where other types of PCB are not possible. They are a combination of the ordinary printed circuit boards with round wires, giving them the benefits of both. These types of circuits help the manufacturer to maintain the precious and accuracy of the connections, while granting them some creative freedom in the realms of shape. These circuits are way better than the normal wire assembly connections in every way. Also, there is no significant difference in the performance of these Flex and Rigid-Flex Circuits when compared to the regular PCBs.
The variations of flex circuits
The Flex circuits can be manufactured single layer, double sided or multi-layer according to your need. Another type of Flex circuit is the Rigid-Flex Circuit.
The PCB manufacturing
We do PCB manufacturing of Flex and Rigid-Flex circuits with range from single to multi-layer. The circuits can also be made from the material of your choice, with options available for the adhesives as well. The substrates for the flex circuit will be Teflon, epoxy or polyimide. A flexible Liquid Photoimagable LPI Solder mask or the Polyimide Cover lay can add more durability to the circuit. Unclad FR4 / G10 and Polyimide stiffeners can be used according to achieve required thickness. You can also get to decide the areas of the circuit you want stiffened or flexible.
The advantages
There are lots of advantages on using a Flex and Rigid-Flex circuit boards. The devices with Flex and Rigid-Flex board can maintain their shape and thickness. They are also thin and light weight. They can be fitted into any nook and corner with the same reliability and durability as the regular circuit board.
