The gravel crunched underneath your shoes, proving your attempts to be silent seemed futile. Rick had asked you and Daryl to check out an old warehouse that had been used as a camp for the army at the beginning of the outbreak. You weren’t sure what the two of you would find, but it was worth a shot and you took the opportunity to be outside the walls of Alexandria any chance you got. “Should take the back entrance, just in case” Daryl whispered. The outside of the warehouse was empty, barely any walkers. A few following after you but were any worry. “Don’t we need an escape plan? Check around the outside?” You asked daryl. He shook his head, his crossbow held out in front of his face loaded and ready to fire. “Nah, this place has none. We'll be fine” he replied. You scoffed. “Since when has anything we done gone to plan?” you retorted sarcastically. Daryl sighed, before scanning the area. “Fine, if shit goes down we run to that truck. No one gets left” he said, his crossbow aimed at an army truck a couple steps away from the door. You nodded. “Alright, let's do this shit” you muttered under your breath reaching for the door handle to open it for the archer.

Daryl walked ahead of you, scoping out the first few isles or boxes and crates whilst you shut the door to prevent the walkers following you outside coming inside. “Seems clear so far, can you see what’s in these crates?” He asked. You nodded, “yeah just cover me” you responded, sheathing your hatchet you hoisted yourself to the level of the labels on the crates. The archer didn't move from underneath your feet, his eyes trained in many different directions as he protected your ankles. “These aren’t anything we need, just some useless activity packs for kids in relief efforts'' you sighed, lowering yourself back off the tall crate. “Alright, lets move further in '' he muttered. You nodded, allowing him to take the lead again, you hatchet firmly in your grasp again. “There’s got to be some food packets somewhere” you said. Daryl nodded, “they might be further in closer to the entrance” he replied. “It seems weird no one is here, no humans or walkers in sight” you stated, worried. Daryl grunted, his eyes kept flicking to your face as you walked up next to him. “It’s alright, gotta be something here”

The two kept weaving through the isles of crates until you found some crates that looked promising, only you had to climb to get to them. “Daryl, these ones look like it has food in it” you said pointing up to the higher up crates only having the first letters showing. Giving one more look around he swings his crossbow over his shoulder, walking so he is in front of the crate to hoist you up. “Geez, how much do ya weigh?” he said as he took the brunt of your weight. You Scoffed, grunting as you finally made it to the top of the crates. You read the label, a smile placed on your face as you saw it read FOOD. “Daryl, it's food!” You whisper yelled, smiling down at the man. He gave you a tight lipped smile back, he loved how the dim lighting lit up your features, you hair falling at either side of your face, framing it. “Get a few bags, we can show Rick and the others” he said, his eyes scanning the area again. You smiled at him again, he was protective of your safety, you knew he had your back covered. “And give that man a bigger ego than he already has, sure” you joked. You didn’t hear the archer respond, only his slight chuckle. You pulled the crate out, the action caused the other crates to move as well, you took the lid off, trying to hurry your action when you heard the familiar noise of walkers groaning. “Hey, hurry up we aren’t alone” Daryl quickly spoke, becoming worried. You didn't respond, only continued to pack a few of the dried food packages, trying to get a variety. As the walkers finally found the sound of the noise, you felt them claw at the boxes you were standing on. “Shit” you muttered, the crates now moving too much for you to keep your balance. “Hey! Hurry up. They're going to topple this thing '' Daryl panicked, you could hear his crossbow fire assuming there were more walkers feeding from the isles you only glanced down.

The crates continued to become unstable. Before you had the chance to prepare yourself to jump down, the creates moved causing you to lose balance. Your small yelp caught Daryl's attention, the man barely had enough time to drop his crossbow and catch you. He barely managed to catch you. “Jesus,” he said. “He’s back at hilltop” you joked, Daryl however did not find it funny, the walkers had managed to knock over crates further down, working their way through the gap. Their skin peeling as they pressed themselves through. You both wasted no time in getting your stuff together, hatchet in hand you both ran towards the door. “They have all been trapped in here, no one has tried to come in” you panted. “Yeah so no ones disturbed here, seems like it got overrun” he responded. The large herd that now grew behind you caused you to both run towards the car. Climbing in as quickly as possible, locking all the doors. Daryl checks the locks and windows for weak points. Walkers that were outside now banging at the windows drawing the attention of the ones at the pooling out of the door you both just ran out of. “So i'm stuck in a car with you now” you said, trying to catch your breath from the panting. Daryl grunted, moving through the car to the back seats. He set his crossbow along the back of the chair and his bag in the foot wells. Stretching himself over the back seat. “At least we got food,” he muttered. You smiled at him nodding, “hope you like mac and cheese or an ‘English breakfast’”

Daryl smiled at you, his hair falling over his eyes.

A few hours had passed, and there was no sign of the walkers giving up on the car. You had your legs stretched over the two front chairs, “well at least neither of us got hurt” you spoke in the silence. The two of you had gotten hungry and began to eat some of the dried food. The food left an awful texture in your mouth but you didn't have much else to deal with. “True,” Daryl replied, offering you a tight-lipped smile.

“How come you don’t talk with anyone else, but with me it's different?” You asked the man. He shrugged, shuffling the dried mac and cheese in his mouth. “Ya different”

“A good different?”

“You don’t seem to bring up the past, ya are somewhat sensible but also selfless. Had to drag your ass away from rescuing my asshole of a brother back in the day”

You smiled at him, nodding, blush slowly creeping up on your cheeks. “No one deserves to die, well some people do I guess, but he didn't. You could see him changing, you were changing him” you smiled back. Daryl nodded, his eyes glued to the food in front of him. “Why do ya spend so much time with me? Always on ma runs or waking up early for ma hunts” he asked. You looked down at your food, your mind working to find an excuse, deciding it was pointless the man could tell if you were lying to look at him. “You were different as well, didn't talk to much, was like a lost puppy. You think about your actions carefully. I always feel safe” you smiled at him.

“Even now?”

“Yes, I feel safe even though there’s walkers surrounding us in a car”

The archer scanned your features, a light smile on his face. “I’m going to try to get some rest” you said, awkwardly shuffling to try and find a way to lay comfortably. Daryl didn't respond, his eyes glued to a door handle.

When you woke most of the walkers had disappeared, the rest were aimlessly wandering about. Daryl was looking out of the windows deep in thought. “Your thinking is too loud, it woke me from my sleep” you joked. Your sudden movement and speaking caused the man to jump. “What are you thinking about?” You pried. The man met your gaze, his eyes scanning your face thought they lingered on your lips for a while. You shifted in your seat, moving towards the back. You had liked the man for years, figuring you didn't have anything to lose, the countless times you had lost each other or almost died you figured the unspoken bond or tension was just there because it was familiar. Daryl's eyes widened as you sat on his lap, your hands holding his cheeks before bringing him in for a kiss. He didn't take long to kiss you back, it was soft and passionate, showing how much you both cared for each other. You both smiled when you pulled apart, it was the first time you had seen the man genuinely smile. “I have liked you for so long, i'm sorry I don’t know what came over me” you muttered. Daryl's hand found your chin, lifting it slightly so you looked at his face. “When ya yelped, I was so scared. When ya fell I thought I couldn’t catch ya in time. I like ya too, I don’t want to lose ya” he muttered. You smiled at him, watching as blush crept up over his features because of his confession. You nodded, bringing him for another kiss. “Let's go home” he muttered as you both pulled away. “How all the doors are jam-“

Your sentence was broken off as you watched the man open the door near his feet. “Forgot to check this one” he muttered shyly. He let you grab your pack and hatchet, watching as you awkwardly shuffled off the man's lap and out of the door. Once free from the car, you both killed any walkers that got too close and began the walk back to his bike. The gravel underneath your feet making its familiar noise as you both crept round. Once on the bike you wrapped your arms tighter around him, your head nestled in his shoulder blades taking in the man's scent. One of Daryl's hands laid over your clasped ones, his thumbs rubbing circles on the back of them. A smile plastered on the archer's face as you made your way home.

The band wants to start performing outside of their school’s auditorium but the problem is they need permission from the school, someone with connections outside of the school and maybe someone to co-manage all of the outside of school performances. Who better to ask than the school’s council president Kim Y/n. Just one problem. They’re the band’s leader and lead guitarist two-year long crush.
