The winter makes everything in NY slower. It seems like the nightlife has became lazy and waiting for the summer to arrive. Still, random bursts of creative energy make the winter hotter. 

This is Carnival, a weekly party held on Thursdays in Tammany Hall. Natural Habitat for beautiful freaks.

"I Feel Friday" parties are colorful, random, and full of beautiful, open-minded burning-man chicks. The electronic music reminds me the happy nights of Half-Moon in Koh-Phangan, and so does the minimal outfits. 

Too bad they only happen once a month.

Last night, Trash! party at the Studio, Webster Hall. New York

Last night I enjoyed myself at Webster Hall NYC. This is one of NY's biggest, hottest venues. When you go there, you can always trust the music to be good and the crowd to go wild. 

And of course, like any respectable venue in New York, Webster Hall provides you with dangerous, mind-blowing entertainment. Hope they got the expensive kind of insurance before letting those stunt-men in!

Last night I got a glance on one of New-York's most impressive venues: the Liberty Theater. It is placed in the heart of the most touristy area of Manhattan, just a couple of blocks from Times Square, in a building that used to be a Broadway theater from 1904 to 1933.

Lately it's has been renovated into a nightlife venue; but instead of loosing it's theatrical history, The Liberty Theater embraces it. Every little detail is a spectacle. It starts with the beautifully decorated space and reaches the top with the mesmerizing, erotic, all-night ongoing performances. 

The weekly Saturday event I've been to is called "Lucent Encounter". A combination between a mainstream NYC party, an extravagant high society soiree, and a post-apocalyptic Burlesque.

Knowing the right people, like I always do, helped me skip the line. When I got inside, I was surrounded by magical creatures. Beautiful performers in flamboyant costumes were hanging from the roof, crawling on the bars, touching the audience, and showing us more and more of their skin as the night went on. 

It was a extraordinary experience. And still, something was missing. The only people who seem to be enjoying this evening, were the performers. The serious, posh audience just stared at the surroundings, shocked and stiff. Almost nobody was dancing, almost nobody looked drunk. They came to the Theater only as spectators. I, however, prefer the events where the guests are invited to participate the freak show.

When the drink is in your hand, your body is moving uncontrollably, and your ears are ringing of earsplitting music, have you ever stopped to wonder: why? Why are we, (AKA the human kind), so enthusiastic about partying? Join us for our launching event. You might not get an answer to all of your answers, but you will have some fun.

We invite you to a late night gathering which is an artistic venture. A reflection of things happening, while they are happening. An investigation of the components of parties.

We are pARTysts. Our lives are a continues adventure. We do not stop to smell theflowers, we pick them up while driving. We are the new explorers of the world. We are cats, dogs and sometimes human. We share our love and ridicule our own choices. We live on the border line of life, art, and introspection. We give you the chance to try how its like to think about the unthinkable and enjoy it.

Who? The pARTyst is a blog about the art of nightlife, operated by the interactive art director Alizarin Zroob and the photographer Tom Eshchar. They partied all around the world, and now exploring the nightlife of New York. Where? The event will be held at the Glasshouse. The Glasshouse is an artistic home-laboratory of artists Lital Dotan & Eyal Perry. It’s aim is to promote artistic experiences in the domestic sphere. The place hosts performance evenings and an international residency program, where artists from around the world are invited to create performance art projects.

Unicorn meat has the best logo I've seen. I look at it and I laugh. 

They're throwing a huge, fancy, artsy party in a huge Brooklyn warehouse. This is their flyer design:

In a secluded part of Brooklyn, detached from the rest of the world, there lies a hidden street you have never been down. You’ve never even noticed it. If you dare to venture down, you will find the cultural oasis of your dreams. As you walk through the dark, you wonder if you’re headed the right way. You stop to listen. You don’t hear anything. It’s eerily quiet. You walk a little further. You still can’t hear it but for some reason you can feel it. You’re participating in a sacred ritual that many before 

you have experienced, yet none in a place quite like this. At the end of the road is a gate protecting an expansive land of sound and color from everyday grime and grit. Inside lies a door leading to a concrete forest of glowing marvels. For a special moment in time, separate yourself from the rest of the world, and walk directly into the light.

Kick ass sculpture. 

DJ Pump is a fantastic carved pumpkin sculpture by sculptor Andy Bergholtz which is shown spinning a record (with its creepy stem hands) and listening to music on a pair of headphones. The pumpkin was carved for the October 2012 cover of Pacific San Diego magazine. My Modern Metropolis talks with Bergholtz, who also works as sci-fi and comic book character sculptor, about his carving process and how he got started working with pumpkins.
