She jerked herself up to stand, but forgot about the incoming bloodrush and nearly toppled. She groaned and held a palm against her forehead, feeling the dizziness surge in as she held onto her bed post. However, she quickly rushed towards her trunk, digging in and clawing out her belonging in a frenzy. Come on, come on, where is it... There! She snatched the neatly boxed present out of its hiding place and willed her legs to take her downstairs. 

When she saw Harry's figure sitting on one of the sofas on the Common Room, she ran and came to stand in front of him. 'Here,' she said jaggedly, stretching the hand that clutched his present towards him. 'Happy... Birthday.' 

The sounds of screaming caught Harry’s ear, turning towards the bedrooms and blinked. It seemed that Hermione had finally woke up, his lips twitch shaking his head, returning to the book he has reading as he waited downstairs.

She nearly screamed in distress, realising something which she should have remembered weeks ago, and she gaped, horrified that she had forgotten something so important.

I apologise for the long absences. I really do. Lots of filled days, lots of business. Under work's heavy burden do I sink.
