Fun fact about this art! The palette was gathered from a photography of a burning forest

While this art is from a telephone game, I still snuck in stuff: the sword is inspired by a flame sword from breath of the wild. Added a sun tattoo for fun, as well as golden earrings. looks cool.

The bark of the tree features an eye, it's something I picked up from gravity falls, with the birch eyes when Bill Cipher is there.

Also the composition!! So many things to say in that one. Basically I started with a X cross composition, and things went from there. A friend did the analysis for me:

THERE'S A SHINY TYNAMO

Nah, i'm not done.

Tynamo have a very simple design so it made it really easy to play with their shapes and sizes, so there are some Long Boi and Fat Boi in there, as well as some tynamo with a wide, a long, or a short fin. they're all in slightly different angles so that was fun to do, especially with the weird mouths

my favorite is the teenie tiny one in the bottom left part. its so barebone and yet recognisable.

Also used blurred lineless shapes and shadows to convey that there's More, and colored the lineart of the different layers so there would be a feeling of depth to them

Used my favorite sea gradients that i made years ago as a base for the background, tinkered with it, and added some bubbles made with what is supposed to be a light brush. Also some brush strokes for that good texture

Team bloom vs Team Wither so this is a CORPSE (green tint and empty orbits) that’s been brought back to life, but there was so much life magic used that seeds from their time underground Also came to life and flowered.

But it’s also me so obligatory Same Hair, Same Nose and Same Scar syndrome

This was an attempt at cutiefying a terrible and horrifying monsters. I’d say it’s a mixed success. It’s certainly cuter but it’s whole anatomy makes it hard to cutiefy. I think I could do better. Really push it.

Pointing out random details

Cutiefying attempt includes:

Making the neck mouth into a :3 mouth. It still has teeth and it’s still crying so eh on the cute. But also, >:3

The arm bones are now cartoonish bones 🦴 bones are not supposed to look like that. I know that, you know that, but realistic bones aren’t cute

Spine and teeth are rounder now! Just look at those wittle teeth, it can’t tear into someone’s flesh as easily now can it

Tooth gap! It’s a useless addition but it adds a certain charm and remind me and the recipient of a certain character

The brush is supposed to have an eye at the end, but that eye is now an X implying the brush is ALSO dead. How does that even work.

Very stupid but look at the background, at the ground actually. It’s not a shadow it’s a trail. The curse stopped in its track to squeal a bit about how much it loves murder. Relatable tbh.

Who knew curses could be cute!
