NSTP Kuwentuhan Reflection

I have learned a lot from this interview, I was given a map of the evacuation sites so I know more of my surroundings and where to go for emergencies. One thing I did notice is that if I did not go, I wouldn’t know about these. I believe that it should be empowered more so that people will be able to know more what to do if there is an emergency within the barangay.

I visited my our Barangay’s Barangay Hall to know more about their DRRM. I divided the information I was to gather into three different Categories: Hazard Identification, Vulnerabilities, Elements and People Risk Assessment, and Capacity and Disaster Management Assessment. I met sir Crispin, he attended to my questions. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION What are the calamities our Barangay experienced? Barangay Talon Dos experienced the calamities of Typhoon’s Yolanda in 2013, Glenda in 2014. Barangay Talon Dos Experienced Flooding in 2015 with Typhoon Lando. Barangay Talon Dos also experienced Fire in 2016 in the Manggahan in BF Resort Village where 500 houses destroyed, 800 families homeless 0 casualties, and Satima Village the following year where 40 houses destroyed,100 familieshomeless, 1 casualty. What are the other dangers that can affect the community? Aside from Typhoons, Flooding, and Fire, other dangers may happen such as Tsunamis or Earthquakes. How are these calamities foreseen? The calamities are not foreseen however hazards are. the barangay coordinates with the committees in charge of monitoring these. VULNERABILITY, ELEMENTS, AND PEOPLE RISK ASSESSMENT What are the areas with High Risk? How many will be affected? The areas of High Risk are Manggahan Area and Satima Village for Fire. 1000 estimate will be affected per area. What will be the effect to the people?  Fire is the main concern due to the high risk at Manggahan area. Therefore The houses are the ones mainly affected. What is the safest place?  The safest places are the Covered Courts as they server as evacuation area. What is the most dangerous places? Hazardous places like the Manggahan area. What are the problems faced by the BDRRMC? Mainly the objective now is to solve the efficiency of action by setting up a well-informed, trained and efficient personnel for delivery and management of disaster and risk. CAPACITY AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT ASSESSMENT Sino Sino ang mga taong namamahala sa paghanda, pagharap, at pagtugon sa kalamidad?
