“Working while Studying”
Nowadays, it is very hard to go on school especially on the college days. As time goes by the cost of living here in our country goes up and up. That is why there is a lot of people not able to finish their studies. But, do you believe that you can make your dreams come true if you work hard and give your best if you want something? Do you believe that there is always a way to pursue what is your plan in the future? Do you believe you can finish your study while on the other hand you are also working? Well I tell you this of course you can. But if you want something you also work for it. I have a friend who is also the same as mine who is working while studying. Actually he already graduated last year in the prestige school of De La Salle University Dasmariñas. This guy is the one who helped and inspired me to finish my study. He opened a big opportunity here in DLSUD, he is Jerwin De la Cruz, one of the night college student who graduated last year with a degree of Business Administration Management major in Human Resources. He is now currently working at one of the popular fast-food chain not only here in our country but all over the world in Mc Donald’s. Jerwin wants to pursue his study that is why he choose to enroll at one of the program or scholarship here in DLSU, the Night College Program that gives opportunity to those aspiring working student that really wants to finish their study. He choose the night college program because for him “Night College program opens a great opportunity to me to pursue my study while working and I did not waste my time when the College of Business Administration and Accountancy offered the program. I cannot afford to enroll in a regular class and even my parents cannot able to send me to college so I work in a fast-food restaurant to save money and support myself in order for me to study and Night College Program helps me to fulfilled my dreams to finish study. I am very lucky to be one of the scholars of the program.” He declares.
I as well when I have the opportunity for this scholarship I did not also wasted my time to join here. I know that this will be my stepping stone for a better future. Working while you are studying is not easy. It is a big responsibility on how to manage your time and also focusing on your school and in your workplace, but this would help you to learn new things and also help you to know what the real world is. Jerwin De la Cruz finished his study here in DLSUD not only for academics based on his experience and learning “Aside from academic learning’s the Night College Program taught me how to interact with different person especially when I became a part of Night College Program Student Council as Business Manager. I had also learned how to budget my time and provide value to education and the important thing that I have learned is the values that I gained on being a scholar of the Night College and the entire University. It is very hard to work while studying. There was times that I missed classes because I need to stay on the work, there was instances that I don’t know which want I need to prioritize my responsibilities to work or my study but because I am very determined to finish my college I able to survive those hard times.” according to him.
Next year hopefully I will also graduate here in the DLSUD and I as well have lot of learnings that I can also apply in the future. So if you are inspired and determine to finish your study this is one of the things that you can do to fulfilled you dreams at this moment I am very thankful to DLSUD for giving me this big opportunity and I will do my best to also continue the mission and vision of the University. One last message from Jerwin Dela Cruz “At first I would like to give my deepest gratitude to our University especially to those great people behind Night College Program who gave me this marvelous opportunity.
Being a La Sallian, the things that I can contribute is to put the core values of being La Sallian in my life and if I am given the chance to help on the scholarship program of my Alma mater even in small way, I am very willing to do such thing that can help on our LaSallian Community.
For my co-scholars, please don’t waste the opportunity and be serious about it because this kind of opportunity comes only once. We all know that this program is very rare and very helpful to people like us. Don’t be foolish and arrogant because we took the name of the University, You are there because they give you the opportunity to finish your study and see us potential to be Night College scholar. Also when it seems the time comes you are giving up just think and back to your dreams/plan when you are applying to Night College because this is for your long run. All Sacrifices will be worth it when you finish your study. This thing will ready you to another stage of your life. Just enjoy while learning!” as he enclosed with encouragement for the aspiring young individuals.
